This series began with I Am Number Four, in which we are introduced to the story of the destruction of Lorien, and how the Loric hid their powerful Garde children on earth until they could grow and develop enough to try to vanquish their Mogadorian enemies and resuscitate their planet. The Mogadorians have been scouring Earth, hunting these now-teenaged refugees, and have taken out the first three. Over the first book and the second, The Power of Six, Four battles the enemy, meets up with other Garde, and they all grow in strength and learn more about their powers and the objects in their chests.
In this third installment, the remaining six Garde, plus an extra, younger, newly discovered number Ten struggle to convene in one location and prepare for their final showdown with the leader of the Mogadorians, the powerful Setrakus Ra.
These books are super reads, fast-paced, hard to put down, and easy to become invested in. The appeal of something this engaging is wide, too – they aren’t gendered, with Garde of both sexes working together, and I know both teens and adults who have been following the series and waiting anxiously for each new book. now when is that next one coming out? I’m already biting my nails…
Ha, no, Kath, it’s not really. Pittacus Lore was the most powerful of the planet Lorien’s elders, and one of the nine is supposed to have inherited his power, and the tale, I’m guessing, will wrap up with him/her telling it.
Gotta read these books, but there is no way the author’s name really is “Pittacus Lore” (as awesome as that name is!). Trying to make my way through “Pretties” (or is it “Uglies?”) right now. Gotta keep up on the YA fiction!
There are also some new “lost files” books about the past of some of the others that should be a good read while waiting for the next installment!
My son is reading this now! He loves this series. I have read the first one and plan to pick up the 2nd as my next book.
