We all hate waiting in lines… but these animals show us how it’s done.

This book starts at the back of the line and we pan forward along with a bird who is flying from the back to the front of the 50-animal-long line. Some of the animals are impatient, but some of them are just waiting, some play games, and the bird offers seaweed to a hungry lion to keep him from trouble. It’s a perfect illustration of how we wait and how we can make it a little less painful. But what are they waiting for? Turns out is was worth the wait…
I love the details in this book, with each animal showing some distinct personality. They are also really cute, though nowhere near cutesy. The fold-out pages that reveal the big event they’ve lined up for are well-done and also sturdier than some, so they are less likely to get destroyed. This is a great one for sharing – the pure joy at the end of all the waiting makes this really fun at the end. So much so that one animal even says he’s getting back in line to do it again…
