Q :What is worse than being fed to wolves?

A :Speaking to a group of teenage girls about what you do for a living

ok that is not entirely true but I did feel very nervous when the Head of Guidance  asked me to come into my children’s school and speak to 70  teenage  girls about the company I started and founded.

I wanted very badly to say ‘no’.
I had classes at the time of the scheduled Career Day presentations. I did not want to embarrass my girls. Their school is their ‘territory’.
My best friend said when she did the same thing  at her daughter’s school – 4 boys slept soundly through the whole thing.

I thought about all the really brave things my daughters do and that motivated me.
I covered off my classes, asked permission from  my daughters  and gave the presentation.

It was hard.
I am not sure I was any good
The inside of my  mouth felt like I had been licking the floor under a neglected cottage bed.
 But I did it.
And next time will be easier

I get cold sweats just thinking about it. I am sure you were better than you think and I would even wager you were pretty darn good. It’s proof doing something that scares you pushes you to greater things.
