I don’t remember you like this

July 3, 2013 by Nancy 5 Comments

Someone I met briefly several years ago- showed up out of nowhere, just last week,  in my online ‘dating’ inbox as a ‘perfect’ match.

Please remember perfect match may mean any of the following-

you both don’t like snakes

you both have all your teeth

you both have no criminal record

you are both literate

So you don’t take too much stock in this matching.

We ended up in a two hour phone conversation a few nights ago. Laughing, talking easily the way you do with someone you have known a long time. Only I don’t know him at all. Remember, we met briefly 5 years ago.

Suddenly, I got a text from my daughter asking me to pick her up.

I said ‘You have 5 minutes to be clever and then I have to go’.

It turned out where I needed to pick up sassy pants was only around the corner from his house.

‘Can you come by for a moment? I want to see your face’

I pulled up and he was on the steps with flowers he had just picked for me from his garden.

He smiled in the most boyish way and said ” I don’t remember you like this” and he gave me a little kiss.

I don’t remember me like this either.
