We met yet another milestone this morning. This is a GOOD one.
It’s the one where all my kids are in swimming lessons and I don’t have to squeeze into last years bathing suit that doesn’t fit me this year go into the water with any of them!!
*Cuyler was waiting for the guard to blow the whistle and yes – Cam does look this miserable most of the time. I can’t wait til he’s a teenager.
Cam’s lessons are in the big pool (behind them) and the other 2 are in the smaller pool. I think he needs to move up – he was the strongest swimmer in his group plus he was in this level last session.
The people who run it have been fantastic with Cuyler and they let me register him in the preschool C, for 3 – 5yr olds. Thank god he’s small – he blends right in with the little guys. Eva is in preschool A, also for 3 – 5 year olds, but those who haven’t been in on their own before. Eva walked away from me and jumped right in. One little girl in her class cried most of the time and refused to do anything throughout the entire class. The mom was so frustrated and I felt bad for her but at the same time was relieved that it wasn’t my kid. Finally.
I sat on the deck like I was watching a tennis match, trying to watch all 3 of them as they were in 3 different areas of the pool.

As I sat there with my head looking this way, then that way, then this way then that way, it occurred to me that nobody in there could know what a big deal this was for us. I was bursting with excitement that we made it to this point. I felt NORMAL. All 3 of my kids were doing the same thing.
And then I looked over at the area of the pool where all the parents were in the water with all the babies and thought “I am so glad I never have to do that again.”
Also – now that we have finally bought another house, I decided that I better start organizing for the <cringe> move.
Last night I started in the laundry room/mud room. And it struck me. I have this many shoes for ONE girl:

*note there are more shoes on the very top shelf. And also my growing collection of $4 Superstore flip flops to the far right.
Please tell me this is typical and that I don’t love my boys less based on their footwear??

LOL, with two girls we are overflowing with shoes (plus I have at least a dozen pairs myself). And especially during shoulder season, our front hall is a TOTAL mess.
4 pairs of flip-flops (last year’s & this year’s)
2 pairs of croc clogs
2 pairs of croc boots
2 pairs of rubber boots
2 pairs of ugg knockoff boots
8-ish pairs of runners & skate shoes
1 pair of fancy sandals with heel (you have to know my daughters)
And then my grade one daughter has gone through THREE PAIRS of indoor shoes at school this year!

Soooo typical! My daughter’s dresser is bursting with clothes and she has so many shoes I can’t count. My 10 year old son? Last year’s flip flops and a pair of runners (oh, & soccer cleats) but now that he wears MENS size shoes that one pair of runners cost more than almost all of my daughter’s shoes combined.

Too funny Jennifer – I was in Petit Pied last Tuesday!

Christine, absolutely hilarious. I just bought my four year old daughter yet another pair of pink sparkly running shoes yesterday (Petit Pied on Yonge St. is closing and everything’s 40% off…how could I not??!!) She came home and lined her nine pairs of shoes up in the front hall. I told her to hide all but one pair before her father came home. In the meantime, my 10yo son has a pair of running shoes and a pair of cleats, and his 8yo brother has (hand me down) runners and last year’s cleats.
We’re leading parallel lives, but at least your daughter’s footwear collection has a little more variety!
