Lately it seems like bullying is an epidemic. We here about it all the time, and while people are well aware of the extremely negative effects, bullying is still happening. Kids are still afraid to go to school, afraid to turn on their computers, afraid to check their phones. And it sadly doesn’t stop just at kids—if we look at the world of celebrities, online personalities and even complete strangers on the internet, there is constant bullying in one form or another.
It’s running rampant, and for the good of us all, it really needs to stop.
Luckily, there are great organizations that want to help put an end to bullying, like TOMS.
TOMS just launched an anti-bullying StandUP Youth Backpack Collection as we start thinking about the back to school season. With each backpack sold, TOMS will help stop bullying, one youth at a time. The collection also ties into the recent Bag Collection which launched this past spring that helps provide safe births to mothers and babies in need with skilled birth attendant training and birth kits.
The backpack collection made from 100 per cent printed polyester is durable for any student and features a padded laptop compartment. All six styles are available at Journeys retail stores and online at Journeys.ca, with three styles also available at TOMS.ca
Funds raised will provide training for school staff and crisis counselors to help prevent and respond to instances of bullying with organizations No Bully and the Crisis Text Line—a free, 24/7 text line for people in crisis.
This is the most recent addition to TOMS commitment that is already known for the One for One program created by American traveler Blake Mycoskie that began with matching every pair of shoes purchased with a new pari of shoes given to a child in need. The company has expanded to service other global needs including eye wear (to help restore sight to people in need) and TOMS Roasting Company (coffee roasts) with a mission to provide clean water to developing communities with a purchase of coffee.
