Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming!
The tree, the ornaments, the turkey, the eggnog, the PRESENTS.
I asked Will what he wanted from Santa. His response has been consistent. Toys, candy and a strawberry cake. Strawberry cake…how in hell do I wrap a strawberry cake? I did get caught up in the LeapPad crazyness. It seems to be this year’s Tickle Me Elmo or Cabbage Patch Doll. I ended up having to get my sister’s boyfriend in the States to get me one. Insanity…but I do think it’ll be a hit.
I’m not a big fan of Christmas presents as I’ve documented here. Maybe it started with the guinea pig – or rather the no guinea pig. For years I asked Santa to send me a guinea pig. I was a good girl…I followed the rules! But year after year, Santa did not come through. He even called me…yes he did. And he told me that Santa couldn’t bring live animals on the sleigh. Logical. Made sense to me. Unfortunately, Santa didn’t have the same rule for the kid next door who got a puppy from the big guy.
Busted. Note to self. Don’t make up own rules…like Santa can’t bring baked goods on the sleigh…you never know if my neighbour is planning on giving their kid a box of danishes.
What was your biggest Christmas let down??? Can you remember? Come on..be a humbug – it’s not even December yet!

The biggest upset for me was not getting the Bionic Woman Barbie doll one Christmas. I really wanted her to Marry the Bionic Man Barbie doll I had so that he could have an affair with my other Barbie – demented I know. LOLZ….

When I was about 6 or 7 years old I remember desperately wanting Baby Alive. From the commercials I was so excited about a doll that would coo, eat and cuddle with me. I was thrilled to get her for Christmas and absolutely mortified to find out that all that food and drink had to come out the other end…I was not prepared for the harsh reality of motherhood, with all of its bodily functions. To this day I remember that burning embarrassment as all the adults in the family laughed at my discomfort on Christmas day.

I always tell my kids, don’t set the expectation too high….and then they are always so happy with whatever is under the tree!!!

Can you delete that pic please!!! I used to find all the presents hidden. I unwrapped a ring…I was so happy and was for sure it was for me….not so much…but what could i say??? where is the ring that I unwrapped??? I was so sad! I do so remember going shopping with Dad at the mall. I think he gave us $5 or so to get a gift for everyone…maybe that;s why the 50 cent puzzle book was such a big hit with John!!!
