Funny thing about memories is that you just never know when you are creating them. I personally think I spend too much conscience thought trying to carve out memories for my boys, forgetting that its not my responsibility nor within my ability as a father (or a human for that matter) to create opportunities for memories, it has to be organic, it just has to be.
So for my Canada Day post, I am going to let the pictures do the talking. Because my words, no matter how hard I try, could not capture some of joy that was spread around our family cottage this weekend.
Pretty much sums up how I like to spend my weekends up north.
Not sure why everyone is so sour here, but c’mon, it’s Canada Day weekend, do you know what we have planned for this afternoon?
But first a paparazzi shot of my gorgeous niece Emma…
Then a very awkward picture of my dad working the classic socks and sandals look….
Of course the requisite selfie plus one, my stunning wife, working the weekend look to perfection
Of course water rat Tasman, eyes blue, mood electric, as per the norm….
But wait, what are we really trying to accomplish (however a bit early for both) this weekend….
Two summer birthdays, two cousins, two best friends….what’s that coming around the corner?
Could it be? Seriously? A wee little tinny to call their own? To fish, explore, chat about girls and whatever, whatever and girls, no parents, no siblings, just hanging out with their 12 foot boat and 30 year old motor?
Happy Birthday Rowan and Hud. Happy Canada Day all. Take me for a spin Hud.
Sure thing Dad.
Memories indeed.
