These Days

March 7, 2012 by Tracey

My kids are both off school for March Break this week, and though we haven’t planned a whole lot of things to do specifically, just not having to rush around in the morning has got to be one of the sweetest parts, for me.

These days, by the time I wake up and head to the kitchen, I tend to see this:
DSCN0266.JPG
Two small people, leaning on each other, already deeply involved in some kind of movie. They hardly notice me at all. It’s lovely.
It’s nice to have some time to lounge in the mornings. And even nicer to see these two knuckleheads hanging out together this way. Normally, by 7:45 AM, the big one is saying goodbye to the small one, who only just arose from bed ten minutes prior… but not these days.
These days we stay in our pajamas longer. We have crepes for breakfast. With bacon. And hot chocolate. With marshmallows, even!
We don’t know what we’re going to do later, but the days begin with ease. And with treats. And with cuddles.
I love these days.

Ahh! I love these days too! During our March Break we don’t plan to much and see how the day pans out. We lounge in pjs and go day-by-day. We usually figure out what foods we want to go and eat. Empanadas one day, dim sum the next and maybe a little pho for fun. No crowds. No plans. No rushing.

Thanks, Leslie!! I hope they’ll “like” each other for as long as possible.
And yes, I agree, sometimes a bunch of unstructured downtime is just what the family can use… enjoy your time off too!!

Your kids are incredibly cute….and they look so peaceful..I am sure that won’t last for long. Our March break is next week and my kids are 13 and 14!! It will consist of alot of sleeping in and XBOX!!! Not that I am thrilled about that, but they have earned it!!! I think back to what I did on March Break………and yup they have earned it. Besides we went away on Christmas Break and all I heard was how they wanted to be hanging out at home….So here it is….one full week (two for the 13 year old) of nothing!!!!

Well, it’s pre-9 AM time… the smack-downs tend to begin closer to noon. You know – they need a little sugar first. (Heh.)
    Enjoy your next-week, lady!!

Our March break is next week.
I guarantee my mornings won’t be as quaint as yours…
No rushing and lounging extra long in our pj’s – yes.
Siblings cuddling on the couch, watching the same show – no.
Enjoy the rest of the break with your lovelies!
