The Week From The Opposite of Hell!

October 27, 2011 by Sara

It’s been quite a week.  Before I had Will I was this insane overbooker.  I was out all the time – every night.  I would reach a point of exhaustion and then just burrow for awhile.

After this week….I’m burrowing soon…but not quite yet.
Last weekend – book club; playdate; paddle match; Battle of the Blades; zoo.  Nuts.
Monday night, we had a couple of new friends over for dinner.  I randomly met them, basically on the street, and then…yes, had them over for dinner.  Okay not quite like that!  But Heather has just adopted a baby from Russia – another single mama!  So she and her amazing son and her sister came over for dinner it was great.
Tuesday night, we went to a Disney Live! event.  What a night!  Will wore his costume, was on amazing behaviour and we both just had a blast.  What is it about Disney?  He was lit up the whole time.

Last night, we headed over to Nancy’s for one of her special dinners.  It was a really special night.  We shared the table with Nancy’s BFF and her daughter; Nancy’s two daughters and two other school friends.  These girls!?  Amazing.  Nancy had everyone draw mouths on pumpkins to reflect the kind of day they had…and then explain it.  Even Will did ..to everyone’s cheers.  “I was angry today.  Because I peed in my pants.  Dat’s my story.”

We drove home, read his new Princess book and promptly fell asleep on his bed…both of us…at 9:15 pm.
I was exhausted.  But a good exhausted.  It was a week of old friends, family and new friends.   On the drive home last night, I was reflecting on it and the word that came to my head was proud.  I’m so proud of my kid and the little person that he’s becoming.  I’m proud to introduce him to new people and to share him with those in our lives already.  I’m really proud of the friends that surround us – we’re lucky to have them.
Are you an overbooker???
Oh and I’d write this weekend…but I’m off to Rochester…sans kid.  I know, I know.  Hello TARJAY!

    I love being a slacker… I don’t tend to over-book. I don’t usually fill my weekends with outings.
I love that you’re such a proud mama, Mama!! You have good reason to be… and oh, how I would have loved to have dinner at the JORO cafe with you all – one day!!

    Hi Sara
So happy that we bumped into you at the coffee shop.
I have been on a what was soon to become a futile quest to connect with
a fun single mama in the hood. Thank the stars that you are the type of woman to invite a stranger over for dinner and I am the type to jump at the invite.
    Looking forward to more adventures!
    Heather

Sara- it was the best to finally meet the little man and he totally surpassed our expectations. You are going to have a wonderful life with him. Loved having you both to the JORO cafe. Come back soon.
To answer your question- I have a very low threshhold for boredom and always overbook. Can’t help it. I just love too many things/ too many people to say no to them- but ocassionally I fall apart as a result of being streeeeeeetcheeeeeed too thin.
    have fun this weekend xoxn

What a great sounding week! I know that feeling of being proud of your kids and proud of the life you’ve created. It’s so important to appreciate these good days…what a great reminder of how fortunate we are.
