Once upon a time there were two families that fell apart. It was 2×4=8 and then it became 2×3=6 The second family of 3 moved so close to the first family of 3 that they could see each other through the back window. Only 49 sidewalk squares to be exact.
All year long their lives are made better by the closeness and the closeness. Meals, carpool, favours, more meals, parties, cup of tea, cookies and milk, movie night, sharing of dilemmas, sharing of clothes, and trouble shooting problems. Double the joy, truly.
Most things that are wonderful lose their appeal with time. Even luxury gets normalized. Even the best things become taken for granted.
Somehow this one beautiful and fantastic thing for us does not. Every day I am aware of how my life is twice as good with this family so close.
This is one of the many gifts of my divorce.
