I have loved the commotion this week.
I think many love peace but I seem to love commotion.
So many people around, in and out, parties and unplanned visits and teenagers everywhere and long chats and short jokes and lots of work that made me feel proud and happy, taking my niece and my daughters to the gym where I ran with their three long ponytails swinging beside me on the treadmills and then to breakfast together yesterday, shopping downtown with them and saying yes to what they wanted (saying yes feels so good), showing them all off because while it is true they are all beautiful they are more than that – they are exceptional people. Soon some ballet in the family room, singing in the car, and dancing in the kitchen, chatter till all hours, sleepovers and cookies for miles, dinners and everyone hugging longer than normal.
Today we were out doing some last minute drop offs of presents to friends who make our lives better and then onto a special brunch which would be followed by a family dinner ( I can’t seem to remember what it feels like to be hungry) at our beautiful home that we are so proud of because it looks and feels like us and I could not help myself and so without thinking I said
“we are so lucky”
and sassypants says to me
” mom, I love our life”
and her sister agrees
and that was maybe my best moment all week all year.
