Now I get it! Cottage life rocks.
Prior to this, I must admit, I silently questioned all those souls sitting patiently on the highway, waiting to escape to their lakeside getaways. Well, this past weekend, we visited our friends, K. and L.’s, spectacular cottage on Gull Lake, and I’m a definite convert to cottage life.
K. and L.’s cottage was beautiful, nestled quietly against a rocky cliff overlooking a serene and stunning lake vista. Our hosts made sure that we sampled all the cottage had to offer: we swam, we boated, we lit a campfire and toasted marshmallows. My city kids were in heaven. Hearing their giddy laughter as we sped across the lake, and seeing their tired yet blissful smiles as they poked their sticks in the fire, I totally understood the necessity of occasionally leaving the city to engage with nature.
K. and L.’s hospitality was unparalleled – we were spoiled with delicious homemade meals, sumptuous snacks and fun galore. As it often happens, much time was spent in the kitchen, cooking, chatting and tidying up over good conversation and laughter. Here’s a pic of all the kids playing just before we made the trip home. It was so, so much fun.

It’s really good to take a break from the city life every now and then. It gets so stressful when you do the same thing over and over. By any chance, are there unique/exotic animals out there?
