My youngest and I went out for a special date this afternoon, because her older sister had the rare, spring break treat of having a friend over for a sleepover last night, and little sister was most definitely NOT included in the fun. Now the bigger girls were pretty tolerant, but it was still a devastatingly sad blow for my five year-old to not be able to sleep in the guest bedroom with the big girls.
So to console her, I told her I’d take her out today to get her nails done; a special mother-daughter treat that we indulge in once or twice a year.
Here we are on the way to the Magic Nail Bar in NW Calgary (excited much?):
Yes, that is snow you see flying outside the car window. They tell me it’s spring here, but I don’t believe them.
Here’s the little princess getting her pedicure. They gave her the TV remote and let her change it to Treehouse – perfect! Custom entertainment:

She looks SO thrilled! Great idea. Sometimes it is tough for the little one when they can’t do what their big sister or brother is doing. This should help.

What a nice treat for both of you. It’s such a treat to be able to enjoy one-on-one time with your kids, isn’t it? (and I hear you on the flip flop front…I looked pretty ridiculous at the schoolyard for pick up two Fridays ago with my painted bare toes and parka).
