I have just begun the first of five weeks of art camp I am running this summer. The beginning comes with a mix of emotion. It is hard work with spectacular attention to detail and requiring a level of patience, creativity and energy sometimes difficult to muster.
I need to both psyche myself up and pace of myself to get to the end of it in one piece and do my best and be my best. There are tiny moments before hand when I think-“Does everyone work this hard?” Do I like what I do? Really, 5 weeks of this?
But I snap out of it quickly- when a 10 year old arrives and she says
” I have never been away from home before “
and I ask how she feels and she says “excited and nervous”
and I say ” me too”
I made this note and put it on the wall in the kitchen where I can see it many times a day. It keeps up the goosebump factor for me.

That’s a good note, Village – small reminders like these help make everything feel more… basic. Excellent! (Have a blast!!)
