Can someone clarify something for me? Have we had Hallowe’en yet? Did I miss the whole chance for Will to wear his Shaggy costume? Did I sleep through the part where I hide 95% of his candy and bring it to my co-workers? What happened to taking him trick or treating and sucking back wine from my travel mug? You know. All the best parts of October 31!
I’m asking this because not only have people been reporting that Christmas decorations are up in stores but we’ve been discussing at work when to change some of our radio stations to all Christmas carols. AND. AND. AND. This morning, I was walking back to my place after dropping Will off at school and I heard some music blaring. I figured that it was the beef cake construction workers at the reno down my street.
Oh and I guessed it all right. What I didn’t guess is that the two of them were sitting in their truck, smoking butts and BLASTING Sleigh Ride together! Are you kidding me?? Yup – this one…

I walked by and gave them the confused eye look and they smiled back as if to sarcastically say, “Oh yeah lady. It’s coming. Your favourite time of year.”

So let me know if I need to get my Christmas shopping into high gear. Tonight Will was rhyming off his ‘need this for Christmas’ list and I gave him the hand and refused to engage him. But if I did actually sleep through Hallowe’en, I need to know. And come to think of it, if I did, I’m popping a crap load of sleeping pills. Can someone please wake me up for Easter? I’m a total fan.
i do start shopping early because it’s easier on the budget that way. but, other than that don’t talk to me about xmas until the clock strikes midnight december 1…then i’m all “we’re gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny BLEEPING Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white BLEEP down that chimney tonight, he’s gonna find the jolliest bunch of BLEEPS this side of the nuthouse.” i love the griswolds!
I am sick to death of xmas starting so early. Apparently Costoco had xmas stuff in August. I have a neighbor who put Halloween decor up on August 6 and then before Halloween Day is even over, she’ll have xmas stuff on her door. What is the hurry!!?
