One of my first forays into being ‘green’ was in the area of body care. I’m a naturally sensitive person – fragrances and colours and preservatives and goodness-knows-what in commercially-available body care products often leave me a rashy, hive-covered mess. It’s uncomfortable, and it sure doesn’t look good. As a result, I am very wary of body care products, and when I do buy them, I’m always afraid that my body will react horribly. And when I do find a product that claims to be free of the stuff that makes me itch, it costs an arm and a leg. Frustration!
What happens when you mix equal parts sensitive skin and cheapness? DIY body scrub. This stuff is so easy to make, you’ll never buy that overpriced pot again, I promise. All you need is something gritty and something oily – mix it together and you have your very own homemade scrub. It really is that easy.
This lemon body scrubs is one of my favourites. I absolutely adore the smell of lemon in the morning, it’s so fresh and clean and bright, it makes my senses happy. My five year old daughter dubbed it “lemonade scrub”, because it smells a lot like a big glass of fresh lemonade. It’s a good, lightly-exfoliating scrub that will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. Just scrub and rinse, no need to follow it up with soap. No preservatives, no artificial scents or colours. Just stuff you probably already have in your kitchen.
