When I got married 20 years ago, yeah, 20, girlfriend! — there weren’t too many options for bridal wear even in this big city. Spadina or Danforth was the place to go with several shops that carried an array of white flouncy, satin, and tulle dresses that hung lifelessly in rows. Just starting out in my career, visiting bridal salons like Ritchie’s or Joy Cherry was out of the question. I looked through magazines and ripped out pages of what I thought I’d like. Luckily, the first dress I ripped out was the first dress I had tried on and that was it. The dress was off the shoulder with lots of beading on top and a flowy long skirt. It was ordered in from New York but the fit wasn’t too great as I had to pad the boobs and I kept yanking at it all day since the beading was so heavy and I had nothing to hold them up. I was bummed that the alterations were not done right. Anyway…..
Say YES to the Dress! Kleinfeld is coming!
Times have changed and thanks to shows like Say Yes To The Dress, the bridal wear industry has exploded. We’re all more aware of what’s available and at a variety of price points. And I swear, if I was to get married today, I would definitely want that full on Kleinfeld experience!
This morning, I found out that The Hudson’s Bay is bringing Kleinfeld Bridal to Canada at its Toronto, Queen Street location. They will have exclusive rights to the brand in Canada and will open a 20,000 square foot flagship in early 2014. Brides will have access to expert bridal consultants and the selection of designer gowns available at the New York Store.
If you don’t know about Kleinfield you only have to turn on TLC’s reality show Say Yes to the Dress to see why their selection and service is amazing. From the casual intimate beach wedding to the full blown society wedding and everything in between, they cater to all types of brides and that’s why I love this show! It’s my little indulgence…that, and a bowl of popcorn!
This is a great addition to what the Hudson’s Bay is offering not only as a leading fashion retailer in Canada, but also as a full-service bridal destination from gift registry to bridal party wear, cosmetics and jewellery.
I wonder if Randy will be here for the opening? LOVE HIM!
Kleinfeld Bridal was founded in 1941 and it’s the largest luxury bridal retailer in the world. They carry an unparalleled selection of European and American designer gowns. The 35,000 square-foot flagship salon is located in the heart of Chelsea in New York City.
