Weekend Update – Holiday Craft

December 5, 2010 by Christine

This weekend, while Sean and Cam were in the States for 3 days at hockey tournament I decided that it would be a good time to do our annual Christmas craft with the younger two to put in some time.

It’s easy, cheap and totally adorable!  I thought it would be a good one to share here.
All you need is are some plain plastic tree ornaments, white acrylic paint and markers.  I purchased everything I needed at the dollar store.

The first thing I did was cover one of their hands in white paint

Then helped them place their hand around the ornament, reminding not slide fingers around and then get them to pull their hand off.  And voila!  handprint!

We let the paint dry

And when the paint was dry, I took the markers and turned the fingers

Lastly I used a silver sharpie marker to label and date their ornaments

Grandparents LOVE these and they look super cute hanging in the tree
Thumbnail image for all3balls.JPGI was able to find a really big ornament that I could fit all three hands on this year (above pic, on the left)

Patting myself on the back for reusing my Tims tray to store them until we deliver them to Gramma and Grampa!

So?  Pretty easy, huh?
We’ve been doing these for a few years now and they become nice keepsakes.  Try it yourself.  Lemme know how they turn out!

ummmmm, UBER ADORABLE and we are SO going to do it! Thanks for the amazing idea. Last year we made reindeer ornaments out of their feet (body of reindeer) and hands (antlers of reindeer) and I’ve been trying to think of something cute to do this year that will be a fond memory of their childhood in years to come. This is it!!
