The holiday season is a crazy, busy time. There are school concerts and neighbourhood get-togethers to attend; family dinners and cookie exchanges to prepare for; office parties and Christmas card photos to endure to enjoy. So little time, and so much to do.
And then there’s the shopping…If you’ve been making your list, and checking it twice, you know that shopping is a big part of the preparation for the holiday season. There are teachers, daycare staff, hairdressers, babysitters, hockey coaches, music teachers…not to mention your own friends and family, and the work you’ve got to do on Santa’s behalf!
According to a recent survey from American Express Canada, nearly two-thirds of Canadians say the longest they would wait in line at a store during the holiday shopping season is less than 15 minutes,. I have some news for you Canadian shoppers…if you head to any mall in December, chances are that your wait is going to be longer than that. In fact, you may find that your nephew will have outgrown the size 6 month onesie you’re waiting in line to buy before you get to the cash register!
It came as no surprise to me that almost a quarter of Canadians admit that they’d rather clean their toilets than go to the mall the week before Christmas. I think I’d rather clean some of those mall toilets rather than shop in the mall in those last few days!
So, shopping online for holiday gifts seems like a no-brainer. More Canadians than ever are waking up to the convenience and flexibility of online shopping. The benefits are clear: time saving, more variety, easy and convenient.
This year, why not make life even simpler by using The American Express Holiday Hotlist Facebook Application? It’s an online gift guide featuring all of the season’s must-have online finds (including fashion, tech products, items for the home, books, toys and more) and you can create your own Holiday Hotlist to share with family and friends on Facebook just by clicking. This way getting what you want (and giving what they want has never been easier).
I made up my own Holiday Hotlist including everything from a Dyson handheld vacuum cleaner, a Rebecca Minkoff clutch and a Nike GPS sport watch. There’s something for everyone on my list, and something on my list for everyone!
How about you, will you be shopping online?
