Marriage is wonderful. Marriage is hard.
This time of year is extra busy for me and Steve. Actually, it’s always busy, but right now we’re both pulling lots of overtime (him in the orchard and me showing houses, both often until 9 pm at night). It’s so easy to slip into the Survival Mode of marriage where we simply pass like two ships in the night, neither of us have the energy to make the effort to connect, and it’s a vicious circle. Blech.
Knowing this, I signed us up for weekly tennis lessons this spring, realizing we needed that extra boot out the door. It’s been so fun to spend time together outside being active, making bumbling fools of ourselves as we perfect our backhand strokes (oh wait, that’s just me) and creating memories.
What do you to keep your marriage from going on auto-pilot?
