A Toxin-Free Generation

May 11, 2013 by Samantha 3 Comments

I’m a pretty big supporter of all things toxin-free. Partly because, as I mentioned in my Lemon Sugar Body Scrub recipe, I’m highly sensitive. But there’s more than that. It’s not just about me. I try to live a toxin-free life wherever possible because it’s better for the planet, but more tangibly, because it’s better for my kids. It’s the whole reason I’ve taken on this attempted lifestyle switch, not only do I want to leave an inhabitable planet for future generations, but I want to have quality of life for my family now.

Seventh Generation has started a campaign called Toxin-Free Generation. On the site there are some easy tips for how you can be a part of a toxin-free generation, and coupons for their products.

And there’s also this video, which I’m embedding here because it really just made me smile. Award-winning Canadian poet and spoken-word powerhouse, Shane Koyczan has created this piece, A Poem for a Toxin-Free Generation.

My reason for going toxin-free? This. This is my reason:

Shane is amazing! Have always loved his poetry. This makes you think, doesn’t it?

Love. I saw Shane Koyczan at Teacher’s Convention a couple of years ago and he was TOTALLY inspiring. My favourite line: “we are what puts the worth in while”. AWESOME.
My reason is the same as yours…my kids. I try to do my best but I’m not always perfect. Still…I try.
