Are Your Kids Getting Enough Veggies? Tropicana Farmstand Wants To Help!

Are Your Kids Getting Enough Veggies? Tropicana Farmstand Wants To Help!

It’s the ultimate battle: you, your kids and an untouched plate of broccoli, spinach or Brussel sprouts. “But they are good for you,” we lament, “They will help you grow big and strong”. But it all seems to fall on deaf ears. Why is it so hard to get kids to eat their veggies?

A new national study found that kids just aren’t eating veggies. The majority of moms (52%) found that their kids are only getting 1 to 3 of their daily recommended fruit and veg servings. (Canada’s Food Guide recommends 4 to 6 daily.)

Why? Well, 64% of kids blame the taste, 24% don’t like the look of veggies and another 20% don’t like the smell. So what can we moms do to get those veggies into our kids (and ourselves)? It’s all about hidden veggies!

As parents, we try everything: veggie dogs, spinach and kale infused smoothies, mashed cauliflower and even breads with sweet potatoes and zucchinis tucked away inside. And while these tricks sometimes work, at other times we find food in the strangest places. The moms participating in the survey found veggies in the garbage (45%), tossed on the floor (37%), in a pocket (12%) or in the toilet (12%). And imagine how well fed your family pets must be!

To help ease the struggle moms face at meal time and get some so-important vegetables into their kids, Tropicana Farmstand™ has stepped up! New Tropicana Farmstand hides the veggies in a delicious fruit juice… your kids will be none the wiser!

Tropicana Farmstand 100% Fruit and Vegetable Juice has one serving of fruit and one serving of vegetables in every 250ml glass. There is no sugar added and the juice is a great source of Vitamins A and C, as well as potassium.

Today’s Parent and Tropicana Farmstand invite you to join their #hiddenveggies Twitter Party on August 18 from 8 -9 pm EST to get expert advice from author  and mom Kathy Buckworth about back to school and food, including how to get kids to eat their veggies! Join the #hiddenveggies conversation.

Jesus. This stuff is like juicing a carrot into a can of Coke. Way to go, Urbanmoms.ca.

How do I give my kids and myself a serving of veggies? I actually serve them real veggies.
    If
you want a serving of veggies, eat a veggie. A serving is much smaller
than people realize and a heck of a lot healthier than trying to hide
it in a juice. No matter how they spin it and how natural they claim
this product is, it is not a veggie. It’s marketing to dupe even the
    most intelligent of consumers.
    In
a 12 oz bottle they boast that there is 180 calories per serving. 82%
of those calories are from sugars. Nine teaspoons of sugars in a
    serving!
    Let’s
also remember there is virtually no fibre in these drinks. It is lost
in the processing, along with naturally occuring Vitamin C and Vitamin
A, which they have to add as seperate ingredients.
    So,
let us compare Tropicana Farmstand to an actual serving of real
vegetable: Less calories in a serving of real vegetable. Less sugar in a
real vegetable. More fibre in a real vegetable. Natural source of
vitamins A&C in a real vegetable.
It seems the choice for a healthier option and for me is the real veggies.
Trying to say Farmstand is a healthy choice and a great way to hide veggies is a marketing scam.
Farmstand may be less unhealthy than say drinking pop, but Farmstand is not healthy.
