A few weeks ago, Amanda wrote about her favourite things to bring to a potluck. I’ve filed those recipes away for future, but in the meantime I’m going to share with you my new favourite thing to bring when invited out.
Last week I was invited to an event to sample the new Molson Canadian Cider. The setting was perfect; rooftop patio, sunny day, lots of shiny, happy people. What surprised me was how perfect the cider turned out to be. I’m not a summer cider drinker (I save it for my annual apple picking pilgrimage in the Fall), so I was surprised when the folks at Molson told us that cider’s the largest growing category in the LCBO.
Molson Canadian Cider is made with apples that are 100% Canadian grown. It’s got 5% alcohol by volume, so makes a nice alternative to beer. Serve it over ice and it refreshes like nothing else. Cider is fruity and acidic, so it pairs well with creamy and spicy foods.
The packaging looks so patriotic with the red, white and iconic maple leaf. I’ll be picking some up for Canada Day weekend…and many other weekends this summer!
Molson Canadian Cider launched this month and is available in beer and liquor stores in six-packs of 341 mL bottles and single 473 mL cans. Availability is limited to Ontario and Nova Scotia right now, but I hope for the sake of fellow Canadians that it’s rolled out to the rest of the country soon!

Mr has been a cider drinker for years – his favourite used to be Strongbow, but we’ve fond another Canadian cider, Alexander Keith’s, to be a really nice new variety. It’s a little tart, and we suspect Granny Smith apples may be involved – yum! I haven’t tried this kind yet – nice to know there are more possibilities opening up!

I’m not a cider-head at all, but on your word, I suppose I’d be willing to try one sometime… 😉

Well it’s not available in la belle province yet, but I may bring some up to Blue Mountain for a taste!
