Here’s a photo of the kitchen in my sister’s beautiful new home near London, England complete with an unbelievably cool device: the induction cooktop:
And when I say cool, I really mean it! Unlike traditional cooktops (that’s stove to those of us on this side of the Atlantic) which get hot and then transfer heat to a cooking vessel (pots and pans to you and me) which transfers the heat in turn to the food, induction cookers don’t actually get hot. Instead, they use an electromagnetic field to transfer energy to a magnetic cooking vessel (a stainless steel or iron pot). The energy transfer (or induction) causes the cooking vessel to heat up. This means that the cooking surface itself doesn’t get hot, making induction cookers safer than traditional burners or elements, and even the newer smooth-top electric and halogen stoves.
They’re also super-easy to clean, with no crannies for stuff to get stuck in and no more burnt-on messes. Just wipe the surface with a damp cloth and it’s both clean and cool. Also, because they heat up much faster, you’re able to more accurately control the temperature, greatly improving the outcome of your cooking adventures. Induction cookers also use less energy than traditional stoves. The only catch is that if you own a whole raft of aluminum cookware, you’re going to have to go out and replace it with stainless steel (or iron). But then again, didn’t we all do that a few years ago when there was all that talk about aluminum cookware and Alzheimer disease?
THIS CONTEST IS CLOSED.
But what to do if you want to enjoy the benefits of induction cookery without the large price tag that comes along with a completely new stove? Enter the Salton induction cooker. This cooker is big enough to fit one cooking vessel (I just love that term!) and does everything it’s bigger cousin can do, except you don’t have to renovate your kitchen (or break the bank) to get one. It even comes with a stainless steel pot and glass lid, just in case you don’t have magnetic cookware, and at $89, that’s a bargain.
It’s a great gift idea, or you might just have to get one for yourself – you know, all that extra cooking during the holidays, it sure could come in handy. Or – you could win one! That’s right, Salton has given us one induction cooker to give away to a lucky urbanmoms.ca member! Just tell us in comments below why you think you need an induction cooker, and you’ll be entered to win. Please note: you must be an urbanmoms.ca member to win, so if you haven’t already, you should join now. It’s easy and free. This contest will end on Wednesday, December 16th at 5pm EST.

OOO..i would love this. It would be so nice to have something that made sense when I don’t. I could put my hand on it. I could probably even put my purse on it and neither would get burnt..and no one would have to put up with the smell of burnt leather when i have one of my senior moments.
Katharina says
I love little gadgets like this one. It’s perfect for a smaller family or a quick meal that doesn’t require you to heat up your stove. This is just as great as my convection toaster oven and I would use it just as much!
Amdica says
That would be awsome to teach my kiddies to cook with and they will not risk burning themselves on any stove!! It’ll ba handy and energy saver which is always good in new products these days!

I really love this cooktop. What make’s it so special is the easy clean up.
Karen Urroz says
This sounds and looks great, ideal for allowing my 3yr old do a little bit of cooking with me. I’m usually paranoid and don’t allow her to get anywhere near the stove when I’m cooking although she’s always begging to help.

Don’t you just love all the new gizmo’s and gadgets for the home, making life simple. Cooking can be fun and what a time too! With the holiday’s just around the corner. Every year Mom gets up in the middle of the night to put the fist of two twenty pound birds in the oven, she sets the timer and back to bed trying to get just a few more hours of sleep before the grandkids call at 5 am very excited to tell her all about the wonderful gifts they have just opened.
This year I seem to have been nominated for the task of cooking our scrumptious Holiday meal. all the fixings and only four burners, you do the math. Adding in this new Induction cooker, dinner may just be on time this year! I want one!

I love the sleek look and the fact that it’s easy to clean.

This would be great to win. Sounds like it would also come in handy for buffets.
Dianne G says
I run out of room on my cooktop when I use some of my bigger pans or when I am making a big meal. This would be perfect for using to cook with my big pan that takes up more than it’s share of room on the cooktop. I would also like to try this new method of cooking to see if it would be worth the investment to buy an induction range when my stove gives up the ghost.
strawberry1019 says
this is awsome, technology these days. I would love these, would be great around kids

What a great idea! Definitely something to consider when we replace our aged stove. One burner no longer works so it’s days are numbered!
Gardener says
oh i love the safety feature! i have an old gas stove and gas kind of scares me. this would be so much easier to use and maintain.
bushcampcafe says
wow….how cool is that!?!? not having air conditoning, i think this would be great in the summer for cooking and not heating up the house as much. i will have to check into this induction cooking….thanks for the info!!

I am a single mom with 3 sons living at home with me in our newish townhouse. We moved here 2 years ago, and soon thereafter I was unable to work or be able to afford kitchen appliances, so we’ve been living without a stove or fridge for the past 2 years. I would love to win a prize like this, so we can start preparing cooked meals again.
jlindahlj says
Living in an apartment the stove would not be possible but I would like to try induction cooking. The cooker sounds like a great alternative and would be great in a small apartment size kitchen.
kellyburk3 says

Catherine says
Wow! What a godsend! I have one little helper in the kitchen now, and her sister will be trying to help as soon as she can reach…not long now! Little hands love to be busy, but careful? Not so much. And personally, I could do with having a little less worry and a little less cleaning.
Eileen says
I would love one of these in my kitchen. My toddler is very much the instant gratification type and is very impatient with the time it takes for me to make a simple one pot meal for him. Multiply that with a newborn, this mom can get very harried! Hubby would probably appreciate a hot meal ready when he gets home as well 🙂
Theresa says
Wow, that does give a completely different look, not to mention fabulous technology.
Would love to win:)

DLM says
What a great idea! All homes with kids should have this! I would definitely find this useful as I tote around my newest little one while preparing lunch for my boys. An induction cooker would ease my fear of going near the oven with my baby. I would love to have one of my own 🙂
ladiydye says
I didn’t even know such a thing existed! I can’t believe it is not more popular in Canada! What a fantastic thing, less cleaning and of course my 3 and a half year old is always wanting to help mommy in the kitchen so this would be fabulous.

I would love to win an induction cooktop. It seems so much more safer with little ones around.
angela says
I would really like this. I keep a lot of things on the counters, and am always moving stuff from one spot to the other. The stove is usually covered, which means moving everything from anywhere near it before cooking. Which means I don’t cook as much. I hope, I hope, I hope!
Jodelene says
This would be the perfect addition to my ancient looking kitchen! As you know kitchen reno’s cost $$$ and with this economy and being on mat leave, there isn’t a budget for replacing our lovely yellow appliances. Small, convenient cooking appliances keep me happy!

Thanks for the article. I never knew such things existed! What a wonderful addition to the kitchen. I’d love to have an induction cooker as I find it difficult to reach to stove these days – accident in June has really done an number on this body! The single element would allow me to place it where I need it and access it more easily. Thanks!
Nate3333 says
I need this because my current stove does not work right and this would just be great for my family.
grammie53 says
OMG this sounds so great would love to have this
Pamela says
When I think about induction I think about induction into the Hall of Fame, well hopefully a new induction cooker would help me get into the Hall of Fame of cooking with my family. I have had a lot of misadventures in the kitchen!
Karri says
An induction cooker would give me the excuse I need to do more cooking, and to eat more “real” food, because it would help limit the need to clean up a large, messy area afterwards! It also sounds much safer for my little ones…
lui says
Gotta have it ’cause there’s so little time for meals and cleanup; my toddler has so much curiosity and has mastered the technique of getting the footstool to climb up to places where she shouldn’t be, agh!!
lui says
My meals need to be made quickly and simply; the faster the cleanup the better. Induction could be the solution for my daughters’ curiousity and prying hands.
tracywet says
I would love this as my stove never gets clean! My husband does all the cooking and he could use the efficiancy of this.
gwennyk says
I love the idea of not potentially getting burnt by cookware and not having to deal with burnt on messes. I’m just tired of scrubbing pots and pans! This is an excellent concept!
Tracy F says
I first saw one of these when the company I bought my stainless steel cookware from showed us how it boils a pot of water in 60 seconds. The interesting thing is they put a $50 bill between the pot and the stove and the money didn’t burn!! The primary reason for the demonstration was to prove to us that the cookware works universally (even on the induction stove), but I fell in love with the stove right away – it’s a safety measure since I’m cooking with a 1- and a 2-year-old underfoot and I could really use an extra cooktop since we entertain a lot and very rarely eat out.
Tonya says
I love having an easy clean – it’s convenient and it’s only one wipe opposed to taking everything apart to ensure cleaniless!!! Brillant idea!
batye123 says
I would love to luse some weight
candace frison says
why would I want a Induction cooker ? Let me count the ways, oh right , only supposed to leave a comment and not write a book lol 🙂 with a hectic life, children and a husband who works long and odd hours it would be like a gift from above !! So yes I WOULD love to win this product and make it my new best friend in the kitchen !!!!!
Ann says
I hate how food falls down under the elements. this would solve the issue nicely!
JoAnne says
I have a 2-yr old grandson who is always underfoot, and this would be so much better than having him reach for the elements on the stove. My biggest fear is that he will burn himself.
JL says
My daughter has a tiny apt with an old stove….She could cover the old stove top and have more counter space if she had this to use!
gemininmb says
I would love an induction cooktop as we often host holiday/family dinners that have approximately 15 people. Having an ectra cooking surface would be extremely handy in getting the food all cooked at the same time.
leaver25 says
Looks amazing. I would love to replace our 10 year old stove then it would match the rest of the kitchen.
carolejm says
I would love one of these as I’d feel safer using it while the kids are around.
spike says
I can never get my stovetop “showroom” clean – there’s always something that’s dripped, splashed, or caked on. I already have the stainless steel cookware, so I’m set to go!
hipmom says
I would love this induction cooker! I love to cook and consequently my stove is always grungy, no matter how much I scrub. This would be a great time-saver for me!
bridget vanbrussel says
I really need a new cooktop. I have a really old jennair and I would love one of these induction cooktops
nitramds says
what a great idea I’d love to see how this works. I really like my ceramic cooktop but this would be even better.
HGGELF says
I’m a messy cook, so I’d love to be able to make dinner and not have to clean burners that I’ve spilled food onto — I’d just have to wipe the spills up instead! No fuss, no muss, and no burns to worry about! : )
Vi says
This would be a great cooker to take to the cabin, no messy clean up, no burned little fingers……..what a treat!
Dianne Leib says
This looks wonderful. I would love this for big family dinners
Lana says
Great sounding addition for any kitchen.
janet says
WOW I cannot believe that they came out with such an awesome thing. I guess the future is creeping upon us faster than we think. I am all for the induction cooker as I am handicapped andcooking and cleaning up is a real chore for me. This would be the ideal thing to make my life easier like a normal person would have. Thanks for the great info on this product.
pat says
would love this. I aways do big family dinners and am constantly trying to scrub the spills off my stove top
Melodie says
Wow, this is fantastic! I never knew they had such a thing…I have a 3 children and my youngest is special needs so this would definitely be something I need. He is just beginning to move around and reaches for everything–no fear! Thanks for the chance to win one and for bringing this to our attention!
mars says
wow, now thats great! one of my least favourite things to do is cleaning the burners on my stove.
Kerrie says
I have hated my stove since the day we got it. That was 5 1/2 years ago. I hated my stove then, and I still hate it now. I don’t like the fact that it’s a coil top, and the top doesn’t lift up, so cleaning it is a nightmare. It doesn’t heat evenly. The induction cooker sounds like a fabulous idea.
AgnesM says
What a nifty idea! I’m all for no heat, easy to clean cookers! Love to give it a try in my kitchen!
CynthiaK says
Now that is a pretty cool appliance! One that would be a stellar addition to our complete kitchen renovation taking place in the new year. We’re on the tightest of tight budgets (and we have three wee ones running around) so snagging one of those cookers would be just fabulous!
BTW, Kath, your sister’s kitchen is beautiful, indeed!!
Shirley says
I hate cleaning my stovetop! An induction cooker sounds like everyone’s dream cooker.
KELLY KROL says
OMG it would be a god send to win this as it would save me time to spend with my family. Saves me on cooking and cleaning for sure and would cook it perfectly so even the other members of the family could do dinner as well. Its a no fail way to make dinner.
nbs says
What an amazing idea! A stove that it’s super easy to clean and stays cool! My 2 year old daughter is constantly around me when I cook – she knows the stove is heiss (hot in german) but still seems to be too near the stove for me – sanity saver!!
hcablue says
I HATE my stove!! One of these would make my life complete! 🙂
msrita says
I have never seen one of these. It seems to be much safer than electric or gas stoves. Does it cook as well? I would love to try one.
slp says
I need one because it fits inmy reno budget- cost nothing to do.
I love the innovation behind the product and maybe it will help me become a better cook!
tempest1952 says
An induction cooker would have been at the very tiptop of my wishlist all these years, had I known such a thing existed. Merely the thought of the easy cleanup has me quite literally salivating! And the savings in energy use and cost…well, suffice it to say that I would love to win this fantastic prize!
neicey says
Wow that is impressive. I think the biggest benefit of this stove over my cooktop would be “time”. There are so many times when I make dinner, the cooktop becomes dirty, and I have to wait until the surface is cool before cleaning it. So after making dinner and eating, doing dishes, etc, there are times when the surface is still showing that it is warm, so I cannot put the cream cleaner on it as it will just instantly dry on. This irritates the heck out of me. Who wants to wait around to clean their cooktop. NOT ME!!! This cooktop would be a great addition to any kitchen.
withwit says
I love the idea of the induction cooker! My teenage son has multiple food allergies including tomato which is an ingredient in just about everything! I’m teaching him to cook because as an adult he’ll need to take responsiblity for his food in order to keep himself safe. I told him that he may not be able to take his dates out to dinner but he can certainly impress that special someone by making them a great homecooked meal! We have a tiny apartment with a galley kitchen and when you squeeze two people (one who uses walking aids) into a small space being safe around a hot stove is definitely a concern. I think the induction cooker is great for people with disabilities who can’t always reach their cooktop in a wheelchair. It could be placed on a table to make it easier to access. The more I think of it I may just have to start saving my pennies to buy my own!
lesley says
I was born and lived in England untill I was 13 when we moved to Canada I thought that they were behind the times because of all the new things I had never seen, but I guess now they are getting ahead of us because I have not even heard of this before what an asset to anyones kitchen and lifestyle……….
lisa says
We love to make our meals from scratch and this new appliance seems like a great way to help reduce time in the kitchen. I love the fact that it would be much more energy efficient. Thank you.
LG78 says
Would make a fabulous Christmas gift for my daughter-in-law who has an ancient and ugly old range….would be much safer for my little grandson.

tania J. says
So cool! — in more was than one. Anyone and everyone could use one of these and well, I am anyone. Seems safer for kids which is a huge plus for parents.
Shelley Josefik says
I so need this. My oven is old and on it’s last legs.
Tara G-S says
Wow! Love this…my 2.5 yr. old daughter always wants to help mommy cook. Our stove top has the two larger elements in the front (didn’t notice this when we purchased it) so I’m always nervous to use them in case she reaches up and touches the hot element…I find that I’m using my larger pots on the smaller back elements which of course is not very efficient. The Salton induction cooker would be an amazing addition to our kitchen and perfect for my little helper!!
c0nfluence says
Wow, this is fantastic! I currently have an element stove and the coils are constantly getting all kinds of gunk on them that is impossible to get off. Even when I can’t see it, it seems to still be there and before I know it the fire alarm is going off, dinner is burning because the bottom of the pans get too hot while I fan the smoke detector in the hallway (the element’s heat just doesn’t spread well!) and the room is freezing because I can’t cook without the window open, or the alarm will go off for sure. We also have a real burn risk problem- the elements don’t always get red when they’re hot and little and big fingers alike seem to keep finding them and some really horrible burns. The Salton induction cooker would be a godsend both from a safety and convenience perspective in our home… 🙂
Michelle Bradley says
I watched a program on How it’s made and saw these cooktops being assembled. It would look great in my kitchen.
sassycmac says
I have the worlds smallest kitchen and to top it I try to cook absolutely everything from scratch for our families meals. My son as ADD and I was told to eliminate processed foods from his life so for the most part I have but my kitchen is just not condusive to cooking. The extra place to cook would be incredible!
lisa yelds says
Wow,
What a wonderful item! This would work wonders for me I have very little counter space and have to use my stove top to put grocery items on which is dangerous because one day my adult son had been using it and didn,t tell me and I put a bag of groceries on a very warm burner smoke every where and its not the easiest to get melted plastic of the burner hope fully Santa will be good to me this year (:
mwatt says
This would be perfect for me right now. My 15 month old has started showing an interest in the stovetop and his fingers can just reach the top of it. I need to keep reminding him that it’s hot (even when it isn’t) just to discourage him. The Salton induction cooker would definately be much safer to have around him for sure.
maggie1952 says
Sounds like a necessary addition to everyone’s kitchen. My kitchen is very busy this time of year as I usually hold both Christmas and New Year’s family dinners and sometimes there just aren’t enough burners to go around. That it’s easy to clean is certainly a plus.
helen says
My two girls love to cook. This would allow them to be more independent!
carrief says
FINALLY!! Something that looks great, is easy to clean and most importantly safe for children. I have a 2 1/2 yr old and a 4 week old and am a shift worker, so any time saving, energy efficient items are always a plus in my book!
Sherri says
One of these would be so dang handy in this busy/hectic household of mine … not to mention the energy conservation … I NEED one of these!
jeanette says
would love to try one of these.with a family to care for and a business to run i do not always have a lot of time to cook large meals, this would cut cooking time down.
Sonia says
Wow!! What a neat and smart appliance! Would be great with the kids around.
raleigh says
I would love to have one of these, with 3 kids all under the age of 5, I really hate cooking with the stove, I’m always worried they will get burned.
Lynda says
Now this is different and very modern. It would change some of my cooking routines and habits. My one habit would stop telling my hubby that the stove is broken and he might stop replacing parts on my 1972(could be older) Kenmore Mark4 🙂 Can you believe that they still have parts for it at Sears 🙁
dewinner says
Wow I have never heard of these what a great appliance!! Would look awesome in any kitchen, whoever wins will get the perfect xmas present. Would luv it!
Joanne Erstad says
Wow, what a great piece of equipment. I went to England and fell in love with gas cooking in 1988. It always seems the Europeans are so far ahead in their thinking…
I suffered third degree burns to my hands from a stove when I was just 7 months old. Although the burns were from the oven glass, and not the cooktop, I can see how many children will be saved from needless pain, suffering, and scars if we switched to induction cooktops.
Maureen says
I love the safety aspect of this cooker. I’m always worried that my son is going to touch a hot burner after I’m done cooking. It’s such a great new technology that I would love to have!
ehelfand says
This is new to me…I would love something that uses less energy, is safer and easier to use and clean up after!
Debra B says
Would love something like this and I could really use it. My stove died a little while back, and I just don’t have the extra cash to replace right now. I have had to do all my cooking in the microwave and toaster oven, which it is a major pain. I am quite the sloppy, well mayby more like klutzy, cook, this induction cooker would be perfect!
Inez (maduckie) says
My cooktop (see, I am already using the lingo) looks like it has been through the wars. No one ever cleans it, except me, and they like to remind me, wheneven I turn the oven on, and smoke detector sounds, that the timer does not indicate dinner is ready. This induction cooker would let me cook meals that have them swooning.
julesn2boys says
oh man, i would love one of those… my kitchen stove is very very old and so hard to clean… my kitchen is tiny … so you can really notice the mess on the stove. My son also loves to help me cook and the induction cooker would make it so much safer for him.
Shauna Hepner says
I also have a ceramic top. BIG mistake!!! It scratches, stains and burns and no matter what you do FORGET trying to control the heat. It seems to be trial and error making dinner a game of Russian Roullette every time. My husband has riuned 4 YES 4 frying pans already this year!!!
Thanks
Monica Clarkson says
I currently have a Maytag gas stove, the kids (toddlers) are getting taller and are now steadily gaining more interest in helping Mommy cook. I worry for their safety at all times., as they try to reach to stovetop. Especially my almost 3yr. old daughter whom often gets a spoon from the drawer, and makes a mad dash for the stove. I have all the safety gadgets you can imagine in place, but you never know what they will do. It can only take a moment. The other evening I was boiling a pot of potatoes, and the pot boiled over and dowsed the flame. Unfortunately I did not catch this right away, luckily I had the range-hood fan running. You can never be to care when cooking with a gas stove. I am currently researching this product, and I will be saving my pennies to see if I can eventually afford one, one day.
bumlingerkid says
Wow! The future is upon us, but it seems to start overseas. No pain from the hot element, magnetic cooking, less mess to clean and look at. Yes, I would love to win one for myself.
kimper says
An induction cooker would be a fool proof way to get my husband to cook! No more of his excuses saying he doesn’t have time or everything is too complicated. Help me show him how easy it is.
Phyllis says
This sounds wonderful. It makes me want to renovate all over again. I am always worried over the kids getting in the way while cooking.
vpigeon says
I LOVE this idea! Why haven’t I heard about it before? I’m extremely paranoid about burns, (especially after my sister’s toddler got severely burnt), and could use this as a greast destresser! I may also be more inclined to cook! I didn’t marry a chef for nothing! LOL!
Peggy Watt says
THIS WOULD BE SO HELPFUL AS I’M OLDER AND CLEANING IS SUCH A CHORE. I WOULDN’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY GRAND CHILDREN GETTING BURNED.
Sam says
I’d love one of these induction cookers. I have three kids, a cat and a dog and I’m always afraid that someone will get burned in the kitchen. I also can not stand cleaning the elements on my current stove. They’re so finicky and really not easy to wipe down
Andrea says
Every home with children should have an induction cooktop!!! We love cooking as a family and when we are near the stove I spend my time saying “be careful that’s hot”. And it’s hard sometimes to get little ones to realize what “hot” really means and how hot the stove can be. It’s wonderful now that there is something that can help us have an easier time including the kids in the cooking process…it gets them more interested in foods and more interested in eating different things.
Trina says
I would love this!!! We are vegan and do a lot of cooking for ourselves. I have 3 year old twins, so time is an issue and I would rather have more time with the kids then spend it all in the kitchen!!!! We also entertain, and when you have to make dishes for non-vegans you sometimes get very creative to make sure they enjoy the meal!
I sometimes spend hours making 2 or 3 dishes, so this would be so amazing for us!!
Thanks
KittyPride says
Welcome back 🙂 How cool! I love finding out about new ways to cook. The fact that the induction cooker never gets too hot sounds like a much safer way to cook. It looks like fun to cook with.
Bonny Rambarran says
An induction cooker right now would be amazing!!! Broke my leg in April and after 4 surgeries, I need something that will pick up my spirits!!! This would do it!!
Toby says
East to use!! Those are magic words…here’s something funny that just happened last night. I’ve never used the element in middle of our ceramic stove top, and thought it looked like the perfect match for the size of pot I was using…well, almost 10 minutes later and still no boil…only to discover it’s a warmer!! Life just gets so busy sometimes, common sense just flies out the door!! lol 😀
Patricia says
My husband is a cook and he would love this.

Wow, this would come VERY handy in my house. As a busy mom of two kids, a wife and working part time, I would love any extra help I could get when cooking meals each day.
Barb says
Love to treat myself.
shellyinwcanada says
I would love to win an induction cooktop so I could give it to my mom. She has a stove that eats burner elements like I eat chocolate. Would be nice for her to never look at a coil element again.
Mreid says
I would love to have this induction cooker as we have very small kitchen and nine grandchildren around a lot the cool top would be great.
Catherine says
Sounds just about the right size for us. Thanks
joanneelford says
I would love to be able to gift this to my mom. She would love it!
aprilfool20 says
I would give this to my daughter and her new husband. They bought a house that came with a gold enamel stove and fridge. You can tell by the colour how old they are. A new cooktop would be great for a cook who is learning to cook, after working all day and being bothered by dogs and a cat who lives on her counters (afraid of dogs). It would be safer for the cat who walks over the stovetop; not to mention any grandkids that may showup!
jeanten says
What a great energy saver. This is one of the best kitchen ideas I’ve seen yet! Would love to win this as it would save on my energy bill and it probably cooks the food better than conventional ovens.
Portia181 says
This would be a totally different way of cooking for me, we have had our smmoth top range for about 2 yrs best part is the self cleaning cycle set it and forget it !
Angela says
My magnetic cooking vessels are just itching to be inducted!
Lynn says
I love to cook when I have the right equipment. It looks as though Salton has thought of everything a cook could encounter on her journey. I would love to try one out and see if they are as good as they look! Especially with Christmas right around the corner.
Rhondayolanda says
We were looking at one of these when we redid our kitcken, alas too expensive for us. They are wonderful!
marinela1 says
I would love to have one of these cookers! I cook everyday since I am a stay at home mom with to little ones.
PDLadybug says
I would Love to try an induction cooker, because it seems like the perfect appliance to use for hot pot fondues. I love the fact that it’s safe, fast, easy to clean, and it already comes with a stainless steel cooking vessel. This gadget would be perfect for fondues as the cooker can sit right in the middle of your dining room table. And it’s compact enough to sit on your countertop, or be stowed away in your cupboards. I will have to put this item on my Christmas Wish List!
jcottre1 says
I think that’s a great idea and would love to own one too!
Anne says
I love it, it would make the clean-up after dinner so much easier, especially when my little helpers are around. Very cool!
maryd says
my son has recently moved out on his own, while he can cook a little he still has that “get er done” approach to cooking, (maximum heat for everything) this would be perfect for him and he might actually have something edible when he’s done also the less mess the better for a young man on his own
Natalie Sutton says
This would be a great addition to our kitchen! As it stands now we have the messiest stovetop because its so hard to clean!! We should have got one of these the first time! Plus, I never win anything but it doesn’t hurt to try. Wish me luck.
Violet says
I would absolutely love to have this. I purchased a ceramic top stove years ago as I THOUGHT clean up would be a breeze. Well obviously the makers of this wonderful device, don’t live with Jr. Cooks (Teenagers) who for some reason, don’t wipe up after themselves or turn the wrong burner on while leaving the bread sitting on the back. (messy, messy, messy). Having one of these would eliminate that happening and also make my cleaning much easier. It might even encourage the Jr. Cooks to be a little more careful.
bigdeel says
This would be great because my grandson loves to help around the house and he always wants to see what’s cooking.
Dawn says
Wow! This would really encourage my daughter to cook with me more! She burnt her finger on a burner at 18 months and every time she gets near the stove we hear her retell the story! I try everything to keep her interested in cooking! How great it would be to show her that she can’t burn herself on this burner! Thanks for bringing this to us!
smartmama says
I would love an induction cooker. You have no idea how much we need one: my husband boiled over a huge pot of water and managed to short out the front two burners on our cooktop. Replacements are no longer made, never mind that they would be over $400 a piece.
Managing with only two back burners has been painful.
Brandy says
One of these would be awesome, as I start my 1 year maternity leave having something in the beginning that cooks fast, and cleanly would be awesome, and later on when I have a little more time I can experiment with some new recipes.
rachel plouffe says
I love all new gadgets, I cook all the time for my family of six. I would love to try anything that would make cooking easier, but still not sacrifice taste.
mipip2 says
i need a new one so i can cook more 🙂
julie37596 says
I would really love to win an induction cooker. We have a very old stove that has to have been from the 70s so we desperately need a new one! It is sooo old and takes forever to cook on. My little baby is starting to pull herself up and I don’t want her itty bitty fingers to burn!
nej26 says
This would help me and my 3 year old to cook together. I’m so scared of her getting burnt that I go crazy all the time and also, this would help reduce the time taken to clean and thus, i’ll be able to spend more time with my family.
ivycottage says
I would love one of these. I make lots of pasta and am always trying to clean up the stovetop.
magyrul_virag says
I need an induction cooker because I have 2 boys under 2! that means no time for anything!
jenn_taylor4 says
My fiance is always causing our smoke detector to go off when he cooks, because he spills something on the stove that gets under the burner. Or he has the stove on too high and whatever he is cooking boils over. An induction cooker would TOTALLY save us money – no more burner liners! It would also save me time, I wouldn’t have to spend so much time trying to clean up the stove top. It would also save my ear drums from the dreadful beeping of our smoke alarm. I’m sure the tenant that lives in the unit below us would also appreciate the silence of our smoke alarm!
Linda Moffatt says
I would love to have one of these. I currently have a stove with cast iron elements which get hot and hold the heat for a long time, hard to regulate the right temp. and dangerous as it holds the heat even after turned off, had more than one accident. One of these cookers would be a great replacement.
GraceG says
WOW, This would be a wonderful addition to our family. I have always cooked from scratch and in the last two years have been very limited due to muscle/nerve disorder. I have been used to cooking the festive meals as well as doing 20-30 person get togethers. Unfortunatley I’ve had to give this up and it is really bothering me. I understand these stoves can cut quite a bit of your cooking time down so this would be a real asset to me as I could possible entertain again. The cleanup time for these stoves is really minimal so again what an asset.
cushiebunny says
Oh my, this would so save my sanity as my daughter always runs around and accidently sometimes bumps the hot stove.
srpoole says
I am trying to reduce my energy consumption as much as possible. This stove would allow me to do so while not sacrificing style and design. Cooking and baking as much as I do, this piece would make my life so much easier.
Tracey H says
Wow, this would be so great for me. My stove is 20 years old and so hard to clean when I make anything messy. And it would give me another burner to use when I have a huge crowd (like this Christmas–everyone is coming here!).
Lori says
This would be fantastic for those days when my little guy needs a little extra attention and wants to be carried around while I do a few chores. He reaches for everything and so I’m paranoid when I get close to the stove, even when there’s nothing on. This induction cooker sounds perfect to keep those grabby hands safe!
remarker says
I think that this would be great for my daughter to start cooking more herself. She’s a one pot kind of girl but gets scared of our stove since it’s gas. She only uses it if I am watching and it would be nice for both of us if I could go out knowing she’d prepare a hot meal for herself rather than raid the treats cupboard.
happygardener says
This looks amazing.Cooking is one of my favorite pastimes so this cooktop would make it new and exciting!
tara Duncan says
We just moved into a new home (to us) and it came with a gas stove. I had heard about the benefits for years, but no one mentions with two little ones, that it’s not the safest thing. I’ve heard my girls comment about the pretty blue flame…. ahhh! They are giving me a heartattack.
Alexandra says
What a great idea! I had never heard of this before but I think it’s brilliant!
Kiki says
I would love to win this induction cooker because it sounds far more efficient than the 18 year old hand-me-down stove we got from my husband’s aunt!!!
We always talk about upgrading our appliances to more energy-efficient ones (or even ones made in the current decade!) however, with two kids under four and another one due this upcoming June, it always seems like there are more urgent and pressing ways for the money to be spent!
Wish me luck!
MEECHY says
WOW easy clean up, a mom’s best friend. I got a glass cook top oven, for the ease of cleaning, BUT when you over boil milk it burns it on and it’s a pain to clean. This brilliant concept would be a dream to have.
Irish_Girl says
I am the messiest cook ever! I love to cook but I measure nothing (which explains why I’m a bad baker) and experiment regularly…. Cooking is a great stress release until you see the mess that I’ve left behind! Please help me with my stress levels and let me win this fantastic product! 😉
Jen L. says
I love that it’s super easy to clean. (I hate to admit just how dirty my current stove is!)
Kathleen says
I need one because I love to cook, but I have recently become disabled and standing to cook is a nightmare, this cooking method is quicker to prepare the food and to clean up after! I would be honored to win this!
Ellen says
It sounds very interesting and VERY child friendly. I’d love to see one in action!
Thomas J Rusinak says
the cooker would look good in my kitchen as well
CC says
I first saw one of these several years ago in a Boston Pizza kitchen. They used it for boiling pasta and I was amazed at the speed at which it worked. I’m glad they are becoming more commonplace and would love to give one a try.
Lizzie C says
To save my sanity!
Idas says
Sounds surreal!! I have not see one in person.
joyce shane says
We travel alot and this would be great to take with me as it is a one pot size. It would be great for clean up to as who wants to spend time cleaning on holidays.
cc says
I would love to own one of these because I cook from scratch most of the time and this cooker look’s like it would give great results!
jenlcroy says
My stove never stays clean, spagetti is a nightmare lol My daughter always wants to help cook supper, this would be a great, safe way for her to help!!! Plus my two year old wouldnt have to stay away from the kitchen. This is such an awesome idea!!
khristi says
I love this! I have an impossible time cleaning my stove top and am so paranoid about my toddler (who loves to help cook) getting burnt! This is the perfect solution!
