The weekend is here! Yay! Often, I like to bake treats for my family on the weekends, which can be anything from a simple pan of brownies to the more-effort-involved pie. If you don’t bake, but would like to, I really encourage you to give it a try. If you feel something is holding you back, try taking a look at the organization of your kitchen. Are all of the baking supplies together and set up in an area that makes sense? Moving things around could be all that is needed to make you feel motivated to try some baking projects. And remember, all of us who bake have had many, many fails over the years, but the trick is not to give up. Good bakers get to be good by continuing to bake… despite the failures. Trust me, I have had my share of burned, soggy, underdone, ooops-I-forgot-to-add-the-eggs types of train wrecks over the years.I never let this stop me!
3 Sweet Treats for The Weekend
The first treat I want to share is a really easy square that requires very basic ingredients, except maybe for the bottle of cherries. Cherry Brownies are fabulously moist and delish.
Pineapple Cherry Bars require a little more work with 3 different layers….a crust, a pineapple layer and a coconut layer. They are not hard to make, but just need a little more time.
And finally, here is a treat that requires no baking at all…Banana Split Bars. They involve a simple graham cracker crust, a filling, some sliced fruit…all topped with whipped cream. The recipe makes a big pan, so it is perfect for a crowd.
We are fore casted to receive 20 cm of snow tomorrow. This already after over 165 days of snow since October 20 here in Edmonton. So tomorrow will be a good day to stay off the roads, throw something in the slow cooker and make a pan of yumminess.
Whatever your Saturday brings, I hope it is wonderful!
