Fashion, at least to me, is not only about the runways and well, the fashion. It’s also about the photography. Obviously, I’m more than a bit of an amateur, what with my Nikon D40 and my lack of ability to take my camera off of auto (this isn’t entirely true. occasionally, i use the P setting). but I LOVE photography. and I especially love fashion photographers. (and no, that doesn’t only mean “noted fashion photographer” Nigel Barker. hahah)
Last Thursday, at Fashion House in the Toronto, I had the pleasure of attending the industry and media reception for WOMEN X WOMEN, an exhibition featuring a collection of photos from some of Canada’s most prominent and emerging female photographers. It was hosted by Fashion Television’s Glen Baxter.
Angela Young, Co-Founder and President of the project says, “Fashion
photography is a field that has traditionally and continuously been
heavily dominated by men. By showcasing the works of female
photographers, we hope to inspire the world with a refreshing take on
fashion editorials.”
the most notable guest of the night was Canada’s own Coco Rocha, who was in town filming the Project Runway Canada finale. Rocha showed off her head-to-toe Greta Constantine and her newly red hair.
