(On The Way Out) From My Closet – September 20th, 2012

September 20, 2012 by Urban Closet

I can e’splain…
I bought skirt close to Christmas-party season several years back – it’s a high-waisted dark grey satin with a bit of black tulle at the hem, with a black grosgrain ribbon bow replete with black cherries affixed on the hip. Felt like something I could wear that said “holiday” without being a gawd awful shade of red.
And I did wear it a few times.
But much like that holiday sweater you’ve got hanging around, for the rest of the year, whenever I spy it in my closet, I’m all, Why do I have this skirt again? Add that thought to the dirty-Mrs.Claus-playing-reindeer-games-under-the-Christmas-tree kinds of thoughts I have whenever I put it on… well, I just take it right off again. I have no time or energy for such shenanigans, especially around the holidays. (And even if I did, I have better things to wear for THAT kind of fun. Heh.)
It’s too short. It’s too sassy. It’s too young for me, and I feel a bit ridiculous. Plus, when I bend over, I’m pretty sure I run the risk of catching a cold in my lady-parts. Or something.
I will always choose any other skirt than this one, so it’s time to go, darling… some little girl someone else out there will love you, I’m sure.

I would totally get a short sequin skirt if I had somewhere to wear it. We just don’t go to those kinds of soirées, sadly. 🙁

    Goodbye, skirt!
You don’t want to catch a cold in your lady parts. You can’t cough there, you know.

Gotta agree with you on that one! You have rockin legs so short is good, but for holidays I think a short sequin skirt or a plain skirt with a sparkly top is better… But hey, I’m all shlumpy over here, so don’t go by me! 🙂
