From My Closet – October 15th, 2012

October 15, 2012 by Urban Closet

Everything old is new again…
I’ve had this shirt dress for several years, but I stopped wearing it as a dress when it stopped buttoning properly. (I stopped smoking 2.5 years ago, and I gained back some weight, so look like a person again – yay for me!) I really loved the dark olive colour, and the length over a pair of jeans seemed okay on me, even though I’m not so tall. I think it’s because I usually leave it unbuttoned.
It’s good for running around in the house, up and down the draft back stairs and stuff… plus, it looks pretty cool. I’m so happy I kept it. I feel like a pirate.
olive shirtdress – RW & Co., about $45
black tank top – Costa Blanca, (gift)
jeans – Garage, ancient
brown leather belt – Gap, ancient
brown leather riding boots – Aldo, $78 (sale)
slouchy toque – Aldo, (gift)
brown and cream infinity scarf by Vince – Winners, $15

The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesn’t fail me just as much as this particular one. I mean, Yes, it was my choice to read, however I actually thought you would have something helpful to say. All I hear is a bunch of crying about something that you could fix if you weren’t too busy searching for attention.

Thanks, Alice! Im convinced its working because the front it open. Ive tried wearing a dress over jeans, and somehow, that layering is completely wrong for me. Maybe the dress was too long? Dunno. And I attribute the lack of bulkiness to the fact that Ive only got a tank-top on underneath, if that makes any sense.
But I feel you on the “right” layers. Tres tricky sometimes. Do you like scarves? They make layering pretty easy, I reckon…

Looking impossibly cool as always, you.
I always find layering impressive, as I can’t seem to not make it look too bulky on me, and it totally works here.
