From My Closet – January 7th, 2013

You know how much I hate winter, right? Yes. I feel cold all the time, and so totally braced for chilliness, I feel like every muscle in my body is clenched, from say, late December until about April or so. The only comfort is a bottle of wine staying indoors until springtime comfy things to wear.
I’m so glad I scooped up this fairly nondescript sweater last month, in this blueish-grey, which frankly, also reflects my wintery mood these days… and it looks especially grey against these teal stretchy cords I bought in the spring last year. They feel like leggings, only heavier. (And more like pants, which I prefer.) There’s something decidedly cozy about corduroys – they’re almost velour-like. I feel warmer just thinking about them, which is a good thing, since it’s c-c-cold outside. (Hate.)
Plus? The cords match my excellent teal purse, so if I have to go outside, at least I’m still stylin’. And I guess I should be glad that after a few weeks of wine drinking, cheese eating, and lots of ass-on-couching, they still fit like they should. Thank goodness for fabrics that stretch. And for fireplaces in kitchens – if you need me, that’s where I’ll be.
PS – I’m also wearing the gold blingy ring on my middle finger which is a) my way of telling winter what I think of it, and 2) the only thing giving me any joy these days. #wintercanblowme
