From My Closet – December 15th, 2012

In an effort to lighten my own mood, I’ve been looking at gold these days. (All year, actually – I’m still loving this sweater pretty hard…) And with a birthday gift certificate in hand from some of my foxes, I stormed my way through Forever 41 21 recently, to find some apt holiday-wear.
I snapped up this sleeveless blouse that ties in a bow at the neck in back… it has matte gold sequins, which tones down the brilliance, and it helps that the base colour of this gold isn’t too yellow. (I don’t generally love yellow on me, much.) It really twinkled over the coated black jeggings I found. The “coating” makes them look a little leather-y. A little rockstar-y. Oh yeah.
The small gold clutch on the chair was a gift from a fox, and how I love it so. I threw on a black knit infinity scarf I made Martin buy for himself last year (I sooooo knew it would come in handy for me…) and I broke out the fur hat, because the temps suddenly dropped to minus a million degrees last night, and I knew I’d freeze my butt off, especially since I’d just been freshly shorn a few hours prior to the epic house-cum-dance party we attend every year. It looked so boss, I just kept it on for most of the night – plus everybody loves running their hands over it, and it’s nice to be petted.
The shoes were a recent purchase this fall, and they were a bit of a steal – very plain black pumps, with a high vamp in the front and a longish, pointed toe (good on my small feet) and a high heel as well… I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of these. I had to take them off when the dancing really got underway, but I wasn’t the only one who opted for comfort at 1 AM. I ditched my hat and scarf by that time, too.
Like last year, and the years before that, I finally made it to bed at 4 AM. Good times, yo. I see a nap in my immediate future, mos def.
