It’s almost Oscar time. People are scrambling to watch some of the nominated films. People are planning parties and making predictions. While the nominees and presenters are off making last-minute hair and wardrobe and jewel choices, I am making lists.
Today I bring you my all-time favorite Oscar looks EVER, not in any order…
1. Audrey Hepburn, 1954
2. Kate Winslet, 2002
3. Halle Berry, 2003
4. Julia Roberts, 2001
5. Michelle Williams, 2006
6. Reese Witherspoon, 2007
7. Penelope Cruz, 2008
8. Reese Witherspoon, 2006
9. Kate Hudson, 2003
10. Keira Knightley, 2006
What about you? What were some of your favorites?

always a fan of Reese.

I loved Michelle Williams 2006 Vera Wang. It was really old Hollywood and beautiful. I also liked Natalie Portman and Alicia Keys last year. They both wore pink and looked beautiful! I agree with all of the above too.

Daniela…I only had 10! hahaha. Cate’s would have been in the top 15, for sure! the yellow one! LOVED.
I don’t mind Kate Winslet staying a little on the basic side. I think she’s just such a stunning presence that she can OWN her dresses. I think she’s fabulous.
Also, the Kate Hudson dress. It was such a great look for her…usually she’s a mess at award shows…and she just looked so beautiful that night. But, yes, agreed, in general I prefer my dresses to be less muted.
I love seeing everyone’s choices!

So, I have mixed feelings about the hilary swank one. I thought it looked nice…from the back…but the front? SHEESH. that was harsh.
also? that chartreuse one on Nicole? I liked everything about it but the stomach area. because it was silk?? it ws horribly wrinkled and left her looking poochy in the stomach. let me see if I can find a picture.

yes. I didn’t like it for that reason.

Yup that Charlize one was my favourite – thanks for NOT putting that godforsaken Hilary Swank backless one up there – I just don’t get the love for that dress. And although I’m not a Nicole Kidman fan, I loved that chartreuse (sp?) one that she wore.

Heh, all of Cate Blanchett’s Oscar dresses are fabulous, I can’t believe you wouldn’t include any of them?! She just owns the red carpet IMO along with Penelope Cruz. I like Julia’s Valentino, that’s a great pick. My favorite Cruz dress is by FAR her 2007 Versace! I love Reese’s that year, very chic! Kate Winslet’s style is a bit too much on the boring side for me. There’s never any detail or fashion forward chances she takes with anything. This dress was pretty but pretty plain. And that hideous mess she wore picking her Oscar up?!! Blech!! I did love this dress on Keira, but her hair & makeup could’ve been a little better. I would’ve preferred Kate Hudson’s in a different color but she looks great in it!
Overall, great picks Ali! Can’t wait to see what’s in store this year!

Kittenpie…I liked that orange one too! I have mixed feelings about that Halle Berry dress. I thought she looked stunning…but there was something about it I just didn’t love. I don’t know.
Ali says
Naomi – I loved that Cate Blanchett dress too!
REALLY? you didn’t like that Julia Roberts dress? I loved it! i thought it was so classy and looked great on her!
Naomi Jesson says
OOo May have to disagree with you on no.4 Julia Roberts did not like the white stripes. I loved Cate Blanchett in her yellow Valentino circa 2005, you know not everyone can wear that one. Also she wore a Jean Paul Gaultier gown in periwinkle with large flowers circa 2005, to the Golden Globes.

I also loved Charlize Theron’s orange ones with the dress clips and preferred the one Halle Berry was wearing when she won, with he burgundy skirt and the sheer, embroidered back. Also that chartreuse cheongsam-style dress with the fur trim that Nicole Kidman wore – was it to the Oscars, though? Can’t remember for sure.
