When I was about 12 years old my mum taught me how to knit.
Just the basics. Casting on, casting off, knit, purl – the basics.
I was able to make little scarves and hats and blankets for my barbies and cabbage patch kids.
As I got older I’d get some nicer yarn, better needles and would make pretty scarves for myself or headbands for the winter.
That’s about as far as I could go with commitment.
I just don’t have the patience to knit a gorgeous cable knit sweater like the wee cardigans my mum has knit for every baby born into our family
I’ve been feeling the need to be a little more creative lately and decided that I want to learn how to crochet. I asked my mum if she would teach me the basics.
Last night I went out a bought a few hooks and some yarn

I was impatient looking at the materials I bought, just sitting in the bag. I went to my good friend google to see what the internet could teach me and I ended up creating this gem, a messy little flower.
This looks nothing like the one shown on the website I was on, but not bad for a first timer. I think my mum will be a better teacher than the internet.
Hopefully I’ll be able to post something pretty in the future.

Are you crafty? Do you have any hidden talents?

i’m going to get back into crocheting and have some fun projects lined up…look into amurgami crocheted figures (or however you spell it) cuz the projects are small and way cute! you won’t get bored since it’s so small and you’ll see results faster!
