The word on the street is that Coldplay is being sued. When the song "Viva La Vida" was released, there were rumors circulating saying that Chris Martin ripped off Joe Satriani’s 2004 song "If I Could Fly"
(now, i’m NOT a Coldplay fan per se. i don’t hate them, don’t love them. but, i like that song. it’s cheesy and catchy and sometimes you just want some cheese)
(but i’m not hating on Coldplay here…i just stumbled on this video comparing the two songs)

So, my question is, how does something like this happen? Did Coldplay sit down & actually rip off the song (I’m with Jen on this, hard to believe it is a coincidence), or was it more casual & (dare I say) innocent?
Same chords, same melody, same tempo. I can’t really think of anything Coldplay added other than lyrics.
I’ll be curious to know if Satriani wins.
Hmmm…to me it seems like much more than a coincidence. They are VERY similar.
