If you watched the HBO series Entourage for the full eight seasons, you know there were many—and I mean MANY—wicked story lines and unforgettable moments in the show. Some will never leave my mind because they were just THAT hilarious! This summer, the cast will re-unite on the big screen with the original members Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven.
The series follows the acting career of a young budding actor, Vince Chase (Grenier), who moves to L.A. from Queens with his “entourage” of childhood friends Turtle, E and Drama. The show deals with their relationships and experiences in modern day Hollywood. Vince’s agent Ari (Piven) is everything you expect from a Hollywood agent but completely jacked up on RedBull. In the film he steps it up and becomes a studio-head ready to make a blockbuster starring Vince. I can’t wait to see where this storyline will go!
But what’s it like to go from TV series to full length feature film and why do it at all?
In a recent press conference director/writer and producer Doug Ellin explains why they went there. “In a half hour television show you can focus on Vince, one week you can focus on Turtle and you can switch around but when you do a movie for 90 minutes you want to service everybody,” said Ellin. “It was a challenge to do that and keep it moving but the reason for doing this is honestly because we love it. We get to be with our friends in great locations and meet really interesting people… The cameos in the show are everyone from friends of ours to our idols that we admire and respect.”
“So, the whole process of doing it is like getting back together with your best friends from high school. It’s just something you do because you enjoy it. And just like [when you’re with] your friends, I don’t think we’ve run out of things to say. It’s really about these guys and what their journeys are in life together. So, we’ll keep doing it as long as people are interested.”
The film will also star Billy Bob Thornton and Haley Joel Osment as father and son Larsen and Travis McCredle. Returning cast from the series will also include Perrey Reeves as Ari Gold’s wife aka Mrs. Ari, Emmanuelle Chriqui as Sloan, Debi Mazr as Vince’s publicist, Rex Lee as Lloyd and Constance Zimmer as Ari’s colleague Dana Gordon. Emily Ratajkowski and champion UFC fighter Ronda Rousey will appear as themselves in the film. Expect to see Executive Producer Mark Wahlberg as well as many a-list celebrity cameos.
The film is set to open worldwide beginning June 3, 2015. I have high hopes for this one to kick off the summer. So, HEY ARI GOLD…don’t let us down!
