Ever since the 66th Cannes Film festival kicked off May 15th, I’ve been gleefully enjoying the photos of attending celebs as they strut their stuff on the Croisette. This morning, one person in particular caught my eye, but not for the reasons you might think.
As I perused the photos from the photo agencies from this weekend, my eyes settled on a man who looked familiar – but not quite. Then it hit me, it’s Keanu Reeves!
Appearing on May 19th to promote his directorial debut in “The Man of Tai Chi”, Reeves stands with the beach behind him looking…how shall I put this? Somewhat bloated and not as good as I’ve seen him before.
I’m just sayin’…
Look, I know he’s 48 and he still looks pretty good for a man that age. You could make the case that I’m being overly critical. That it’s a bad angle. But I don’t apply “regular people” standars to someone rich, famous and with access to surgeons, private chefs and trainers. Truth be told, what I’ve posted is not the worst photo from the weekend. Read on.
Above is my last memory of Reeves – from last October – at the “The Cloud Atlas” premiere:
See what I mean??? Before you call me mean, or say it’s the lack of beard that is making Keanu look bloated, feast your eyes on THIS. Keanu on the Odessa boat in Cannes over the weekend, as featured in US Weekly. I am not alone in my assessment!!
Now, let’s just remind ourselves of what once was. On the right is a photo from 2003 taken at the Los Angeles premiere of “Matrix Reloaded”. Ahhhh…..YES!
Please Keanu. Not you too. Stop it now. Save yourself man. Do NOT go the way of Val Kilmer.

I think he is starting to look a little like Richard Gere and that can’t be all bad:)

If I like or even dislike someone, celebrity or not, I don’t care if they put on weight or lose weight. I just am not that superficial, but I guess I have a different perspective being somewhat on the fluffy side of the weight line that seems to be drawn in the sand. Why must we be so focused on the size of people and so freakin’ judgemental? Is this the compassion and lack of empathy that is being taught to your children? I hope not because one day you may find yourself on my side of the line, or heaven forbid droopy because of gravity or bloated because your body can’t handle the heat like it used to. Pffff this post really rubbed me the wrong way.

I know what you mean Tracey. He can’t act at all but he’s so like-able. And since he’s got no acting talent, if he loses his looks, what does he have left???
Let’s hope for the best!

I have such a soft spot for that guy, even though he can barely act his way out of a paper bag. I can’t help it – love him. I always have. Of course, I hope he doesn’t go the way of The Kilmer… that would be tres tragic. Perhaps he needs to lay off the salt. Or something. :{
