A couple of Canadian rock stars just got engaged while proving that you really can keep things private – no matter how famous you are.
“Complicated” singer Avril Lavigne (27) announced that she’s engaged to Nickleback front-man Chad Kroeger (37).
It wasn’t even the fact that they got engaged that surprised nearly everyone. Few had any idea they were a couple in the first place.
PEOPLE Magazine reports that the couple began dating six months ago when Kroeger co-wrote a song for Avril’s upcoming album. He proposed on August 8th with a 14-carat diamond ring.
In an interview with Hello Canada Kroeger confessed:
“I knew I was falling for her. It was incredibly powerful and something I’ll never forget.”
And Lavigne fell for his sense of humour:
“He makes me laugh every day. He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive.”
This is Kroeger’s first marriage and Lavigne’s second. She seems to have a soft-spot for lead singers because she was previously married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley (from 2006 to 2009)
The couple have not set a wedding date yet. Congrats!!
