Have you seen Jessica Simpson (32) lately? The other day, she was photographed with her sister Ashlee (28) at an event in California. Check out the photo here.
And wow, what a transformation! Reportedly, she’s already lost 60 pounds.
Earlier this year, Simpson had taken many negative pot-shots for gaining 70 pounds during her pregnancy and wearing mu-mus to hide it.
At the time, Simpson didn’t make a secret of her love of “Southern comfort food” such as fried chicken and dessert. She also told a talk show she was retaining a lot of water, which is very common in late stages of a pregnancy. Anyone who’s been pregnant can totally relate, right?
She continued to be proud of her figure during pregnancy and in April posed for the cover of ELLE Magazine, a la Demi Moore in Vanity Fair back in 1991.
Since giving birth to daughter Maxwell in May, Simpson has been open about her struggles to shed the pregnancy pounds. So to get back on track, she signed a $3 million deal with Weight Watchers to trim down to her ideal size. Now that’s $3 million worth of motivation!
This is where I wish I could relate! I had to lose nearly 30 post-baby pounds all on my own and sadly, no one offered to pay me a dime.
By signing on with Weight Watchers, Simpson joined a list of celebrities who’ve turned to weight-loss programs to not only lose weight, but also gain some big cash.
Celebs can get anywhere from $250,000 to $2 million for an endorsement deal. In fact, celebrity diet endorsers earn about $33,000 for every dropped pound.
Not bad, huh?
Here are just some examples of celebs who lost big while becoming spokespeople for weight-loss programs:
Valerie Bertinelli lost 50 pounds on Jenny Craig. Kirstey Alley lost 75 through Jenny but gained it back at one point. Mariah Carey lost 70 post-baby pounds on Jenny Craig, while Jennifer Hudson lost 80 pounds on Weight Watchers.
Aside from the big payout and health benefits to motivate them, don’t forget celebs also have the benefit of personal chefs and trainers to guide them along the way.
Simpson did a teaser ad for Weight Watchers which shot her as head-shot only, which I’m posting below. Few pictures have been since since, but we did have this corseted Halloween pic! (see above)
As Simpson stepped out with her sister, she really was looking great. Clearly, she’s been working hard. Kudos!
Now I’m just waiting for the People Magazine cover where we see her big reveal in a bikini and then brand-spanking new TV ads for Weight Watchers.
It’s coming people, mark my words!
