Nick Cannon On His Divorce: “The Kids Are Our #1 Priority”

December 10, 2015 by Marianne Litman Leave a Comment

It’s always sad when a couple splits up, even more so when there are kids involved. This is true of our friends, our family and, yes, even the celebrities we all watch from afar.

Lately there seems to have been a stream of bad luck when it comes to relationships in Hollywood. I know more than a few people were mourning the loss of their favourite celebrity couple over the past few years. Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow; Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner; Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale; Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon—the list just seems to go on and on.

But one thing is for sure, we are seeing a lot of amazing examples of how to co-parent your kids come out these relationships.

And the latest celeb to open up about his co-parenting experience with his ex is America’s Got Talent host, Nick Cannon.

Cannon split from Mariah Carey earlier this year in January, but the couple are still seen together all the time. Is there a flame that is rekindling? No. They are just amazing parents.

The exes share custody of their four-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

“It’s all about unconditional love,” said Cannon of co-parenting with Carey. “And knowing because they were so young, this is what they know: They know Mommy and Daddy still love each other, but more importantly they love us.”

“It’s family. We’ll always be family,” Cannon said. He added that for his twins, it’s a “beautiful experience” to see their parents getting along.

Too true. Seems like Cannon and Carey are setting a wonderful example for their kids and for other parents who are taking the co-parenting journey.
