The JUNO Awards is only days away! Every year the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences recognize Canada’s music industry. The 43rd annual awards ceremony will take centre stage in Winnipeg, Manitoba this Sunday night. If you’re lucky enough to score a ticket to the event — I’m insanely jealous! But you’ll be able to watch live on CTV at 8:00 pm EST.
The confirmed performer list includes OneRepublic, Sarah McLachlan, Serena Ryder, Robin Thick, Classified, and many other great Canadian talent! Leading the JUNO Award nominations with six, including Album of the Year, Arcade Fire won’t exactly be there live but according to their press release it promises an exclusive performance and a one-of-a-kind recorded experience for viewers. I’m so very curious now!!
Bachman-Turner Overdrive Tribute will close the 2014 JUNOS with all four members of BTO expected to be in attendance. Expect familiar musicians Matt Mays, Travis Good and Tim Hicks to join the tribute led by The Sheepdogs in this all-star tribute to perform favourites like “Let It Ride” and “Takin’ Care of Business.” Singing yet? I remember seeing them perform live not too long ago and they can still get a room on their feet!
As we gear up for the weekend I’ve been checking out the list of nominees at the iTunes JUNOS 2014 Feature Room. It’s a great overview of the categories and nominees. I’ve been meaning to download me some Hedley so this was a great reminder. I’m also exploring a few artists that I’m not too familiar with! The official JUNOS 2014 App is also available free at the iTunes App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and for Android at GooglePlay offers the latest news and information surrounding the event. It also features artist interviews and special features and more.
So, who do you think will win Album of the Year? Here’s the list of nominees…
And a video to get your day groovin’ from Tegan and Sara ….
