Ah….disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong…
First came the doping scandal. Then came last week’s televised confession to Oprah Winfrey. Then the news that Paramount Pictures and director J.J. Abrams’ production company have secured the rights to New York Times reporter Juliet Macur‘s upcoming book Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong (due out in June).
You know what comes next don’t you? The casting rumours of course! And guess who has thrown his hat into the ring?
According to BBC News, Bradley Cooper (38) has thrown his hat into the ring. The star of Silver Linings Playbook said:
“I think he’s fascinating. I remember thinking, that would be a great character, I’d love to play that character. I would love to do something, I think he’s pretty fascinating.”
The book (and the film) will chronicle Armstrong’s wins for more than a decade, his recovery from testicular cancer, his seven Tour de France victories and even his consistent denial of doping.
BBN News says the film studio has not announced a cast and Cooper said he had not had any discussions about playing Armstrong.
According to rumours, Matt Damon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Fassbender and Christian Bale are among the other actors whose names have been mentioned to play Armstrong.
I’m thinking he’d be a great choice. I can see it! I’m thinking Ryan Gosling would be good too. So what do you think? Would Cooper be a good choice? And if you were the casting agent, who would be your number one pick?
