I’d imagine one of the advantages to being an actress is having an endless list of movies or television shows that you once starred in, to eventually show your kids. Can you imagine? And here’s mommy as a princess and here’s mommy flying a plane. Oh and here’s mommy taking down a multi-national drug cartel even though her captain had taken away her badge… you get the idea!
It seems like Gillian Anderson thought so too, sharing an episode from The X-Files with her two sons, Felix, age 7, and Oscar, age 9. Gillian starred in the hit show as Special Agent Dana Scully for nine seasons, winning many awards for the role including a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama Series in 1997.
Gillian was interviewed by The Talk to discuss the upcoming revival of The X-Files, which as of now has six scheduled episodes to air, premiering on January 24, 2016. It was there that she revealed what she thought was her genius plan to play the show for her two boys.
Unfortunately, it didn’t go so well for her.
“It backfired so badly. I literally chose the least scary of all of them, which also happens to be my favorite episode, which is called ‘Bad Blood,’ ” Anderson said.
“They had nightmares for weeks!” Anderson explained. “They’ve seen Harry Potter, they’ve seen Voldemort, they’ve seen Orcs, they’ve seen everything [and this scared them]. It literally is the bane of my existence.”
Maybe she can try again when they are a bit older? What do you think?
