Nothing like a little celebrity fodder to kick of a sunny Monday, so without further ado, here is my top five celebrity hall pass list (celebrities I can spend some quality time with without marital repercussion, including judgment or envy).
1. Jennifer Connelly (15 year reigning champion)
I am not sure if it was the innocence of Career Opportunities or when she made the leap into more serious adult roles like Inventing the Abbots or Dark City or the very adult role in Requiem for a Dream, but I have always found her remarkably attractive even with her very robust eyebrows. She might be a bit bitchy, but I am guessing I would be ok with that.
2. Charlize Theron
Yes she kind of scares me. Yes after watching Young Adult and Snow White and the Huntsman almost back to back, I believe she could tear you apart with a string of insults that would leave you puddled like weak wax in the middle of the floor. Yes, watching Monster gave me a remarkable amount of respect for her acting ability and also gave me pause on how she may look after a night of drinking and smoking. But sometimes, when she is photographed wearing all white, with the fake no make up look, she truly is breathtaking. And I think she would be perfect partner for shots and irresponsible dancing.
3. Kate Upton.
She is a new addition. I just think she would be pretty darn fun.
4. Natalie Portman
She was cute in The Professional and Beautiful Girls and obviously had some serious acting chops. But I mostly ignored her until Garden State, where I fell in love with her a little bit and then Closer where I fell in lust with her a lot. Add that to the gangsta SNL video short she made with Adam Sandberg and she quickly was added to the list.
5. Cate Blanchett
Cate blew me away in Elizabeth, both by strength of performance and her remarkable beauty. But it weirdly it was The Gift and much later in Notes on a Scandal that secured her position on my list (which I hear she is very proud and grateful to be included). However, since her hackneyed playing of Irina Spalko in the equally awful Indiana Jones 5 movie, she has slipped from middle of the pack to just hanging on at five.
Who is on your list?
Alice says
It’s all Matt Damon, over here.
But of course, also Chris Hemsworth.
And Chris Pine, who could be Matt Damon’s little brother, if only he could do something about the eyebrow situation. They don’t do a bad job with it when he’s playing Kirk, so I’ll take him in that look right there.
Think I have a type much?

Sara, love that you included Jennifer Lawrence on your list…go girl!
I’m a single too, so I don’t need a hall pass…I can just roam whenever and wherever I like (ahahahahahahaha – so not likely).
Anyway, I guess mine would be:
1. Sean Bean (first as Boromir in LOTR but totally earned #1 as Eddard Stark in Game of Thrones)
2. George Clooney
3. Michael Bublé
4. Patrick Stewart (but only as Jean-Luc)
5. Seth MacFarlane (what can I say, I’m a sucker for funny guys and smart guys, and Seth’s a whole lotta both).
Sara says
hahahah – Kate Upton??? Really – well who is to judge!
Since I’m single – I have free passes all the time but…
1. B Coops
2. The Clooney
3. Jennifer Lawrence
4. I’m with Karen on the Charlie Hunnam….but I’d like Opie in there too – with beard
5. John Cusack – we’d talk first

I didn’t finish my thought…Timothy Hutton’s been on that list since Ordinary People, but really sealed his spot in Taps, which I saw at the theatre about 17 times at the ripe and very impressionable age of 11.
