By now you’ve all read the news….Sigg, the Swiss hero we were all heralding when we turned our BPA plastic water bottles in and turned to stainless steel canteens, has voluntarily recalled its bottles as it turns out that trace amounts of BPA have been found in the lining. Sigh….what’s a girl to do?
Back in April, Trend Watch wrote about Otterbottle, a unique Candian company manufacturing stainless steel water bottles. We loved so many things about these bottles; their safe and stringent manufacturing standards, their funky designs, and the fact that with every bottle sold a contribution is made to the David Suzuki Foundation. Our Otterbottle has made it through a six month test drive and has survived baseball games, trips to the beach and days at the playground.
Our friends at Otterbottle were impressed with the response that urbanmoms readers has to their product, and they’re offering a special giveaway for Fall…fifteen family packs of Otterbottle products! Each package incluces two 500ml bottles, one 750 ml bottle and one 900 ml bottle, valued at over $80!!!
How can you win? Well, the woman behind Otterbottles advocates the importance of small steps to saving the environment (reducing consumerism, reusing products, reducing water use, etc.). Take a look at the Otterbottles site, and in the comment section below tell us which bottle best fits your personality, and give us your favourite tip for saving the environment. What’s your family doing to help the cause? Share with us and your family could win! Remember, you must be an urbanmoms member to win! On October 5, fifteen lucky members will be chosen from all comments left below. Good luck!
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. THANKS TO ALL OUR ENTRANTS!

The cherry blossom otterbottle fits my personality best.
I swapped all our light bulbs out & last month I bought a bunch of glass canisters so now we buy most of our dry goods at the bulk store so I don’t waste as much packaging as I used to.
pureevil25 says
My fav Otter Bottle is the dragonfly on purple!
We just bought a front loading washer & we always wash in cold. We hang our clothes to dry year round, sure it takes a bit longer but it’s totally worth it!
Carina says
We donate things we are done with to the second hand store, and I make my own laundry soap, re-using old liqud laundry soap bottles to store it. I have re-used the same 4 bottles ( and large 5 gallon pail to make it and store the excess) for the past year, and I’m sure those containers will last me many more years)
Laura says
I think my favourite is the owl – very cool looking. Our family tries to recycle whenever possible. We always donate used clothing, toys and household
items to the local Salvation Army.
Lisa says
I like the bottle with the blue camoflauge on it.
As for recycling ideas, it would be great if they could have a bottle that has a filter in it for water for those who are unsure of what is in our tap waters and like to refil our water bottles on the go.
Around home we help the environment by buying are meat, and meat bye products from farmers, vegetables, some we grow and some our extended family grows for us, none of us use pesticides or herbicides and all the animals are free range. We buy memory sticks for our games and not actual cartridges, this way we only need to use one cartridge for many games, not buy many cartridges for one game. We recycle all our beverage containers as we pay recycling fees for all of them, including milk containers. Almost all the toys we buy at garage sales and re-sell them at garage sales, our town even has a community wide garage sale which is alot of fun for everyone. as for water, we catch water from our gutters in to a big holding tank and use that to water our plants and gardens as water is sparse here.
Dianne G says
I really like the Cherry Blossom design on the bottles. Our family tries to recycle or donate everything we can’t use. We also try to buy local as much as we can because shipping from areas far away uses a lot of fuel. We keep the heat down and wear sweaters or wrap up in blankets when we are sitting around. We have most of our light bulbs replaced with energy efficient bulbs and our appliances have been replaced in favour of energy efficient ones.
Darlene says
I like the 750 ml copper-coloured bottle with the owl on it. It’s unique. But the bottle that best reflects my personality may be the one with the lotus on it.
We try to do our part to help the environment, through carrying snacks in tupperware containers when we go out, and using cloth and other recyclable bags to hold our groceries.
Dian says
Great looking bottle, I need a new one for the gymn
E. Casey says
They are all lovely, but the sort of Chinese looking one with cherry blossoms and branches would be my choice. Personally, I bike or walk just about everywhere and use carpools whenever possible, to avoid depending on gas for transportation and cutting down on environmental toxins. In this house, eating fewer meat products has reduced cooking times thereby saving energy. I keep the heat down and wear sweaters and slippers, even though my heat is covered in my rental. Watching hot water usage and replacing bulbs with energy savers and thinking how to combine days that require heat with my baking schedule. It all helps!
Linda Ruth says
The bottle that best fits my personality is the black 750 ml with the white flowers – I’m a black-and-white gal.
Some save-the-environment tips that haven’t been mentioned yet:
1. When going through your mail, put the envelopes & stamps aside to send to fundraiser programs like Oxfam. They sell the stamps and envelopes to collectors and use the funds for projects in the developing world.
2. Recycle the letter-sized paper that’s blank on one side into your printer. Printing out receipts from online purchases and other household printing can be done on scrap paper.
3. Paper that won’t work in the printer can be torn into thirds and the blank backs used for memos, lists, phone messages, etc. I have a stack of this recycled paper beside every phone.
4. A great way to make sure you have your cloth shopping bags with you is to fold and roll each one up into a little bundle, secure with an elastic band, and stick them in your purse, backpack, or diaper bag. I keep two or three in my bag at all times.
jeanette says
they are all lovely but the dragon fly is my favorite. to save the environment we recycle, compost.my daughter takes juice in her water bottle.we do not buy bottled water. we live in a small town so we walk or ride our bikes everywhere.i make most things from scratch so there is less waste.i have also started to make quilts out of our old clothes instead of throwing them away.we feel it is very important to leave the earth clean for the next generation.
Dan Rugg says
I really like the grey 750ml bottle that has the tree like design on it. My tip is to buy reusable grocery bags so that you can save on the impact plastic is having on the atmosphere and the enviornment and also save on the waste in the landfills. My family and I help by recycling absolutely everything we can and also we do charity work doing such things as a shoreline cleanup at which we picked up 50 lbs of junk each of the shore of a local lake for a total of 200 lbs of garbage. It is amazing how blind to the impact this has on us and our enviornment.
Linda says
I love the PINK FLOWER POWER Otterbottle. I believe it signifies the beauty and strength in women! I have four children ~ a 9 year old and 4 year old TRIPLETS each with their own style. They could not wait to go on-line to pick their own bottle to show their friends at school. I think these have encouraged our children to drink more water. We stress the three R’s in our house and believe me…if mommy or daddy slip up….we are reminded. Our children deserve a clean and heathy environment for their future and we need to do our best to help!
bushcampcafe says
love the purple bottle with the dragonfly…love dragonfly motifs as i feel they reflect my love of the lake……as far as the environment goes, we try to be as low impact as possible, and we have cut our consumption of animal products WAY back…..
bigj says
The 750 Cherry Blossom design is one of my favourites. My daughter and son both really like the owl. Please ask your designers to produce a horse picture on one of your future bottles and my daughter and her “horse crazy” friends will buy them all up! We use a composter for our yard waste and fill our green bin and our three blue bins full for each garbage pickup. Our actual “garbage” can doesn’t get full at all since we recycle so much. I take our plastic bags (what little we receive) to the local recycling depot along with any styrofoam from meat trays.
Carol Dyck says
A good sturdy safe bottle – at last!!!
Jen L. says
I love the purple 750 ml with a dragonfly on it. My favourite “green” tip is to hang out laundry to dry. I do it outside all summer long and then on drying racks in the spare bedroom throughout the winter. It’s not a lot of extra work and I feel good about rarely needing to use the dryer.
Yvonne Horvath says
My favourite Otterbottle is the 750 ml. stainless steel one with the red flowers on it. It makes me think of what can grow if we nurture our environment, which is what using these reusable bottles is all about.
In my household we teach our young child about taking care of our earth and we stress the 3 R’s as it is taught in school.
It’s all about starting this type of thinking at a young age and being a good role model.
Our children are our future and we need to help our environment for their future!
grace1972 says
What I really love is the fact that they are made of stainless steel. Plastic is not only harmful to the environment, but I read an article not long ago linking plastic water bottles, that were left in the sun or intense heat and still swigged, to certain types of cancer. Pretty scary! So this is a far superior alternative, and very stylish too. Also, I’d imagine that water would stay colder longer too….bonus!
Pamela says
My favorite is the purple bottle (750ml) with the dragonfly but they are all great. We recycle in our home, everything that we can. We also make sure we turn off our lights when we don’t need them. Our kids are great at this one. We also dry all our clothes by hanging them up (we don’t use a dryer). We also use energy efficient light bulbs where ever possible.
syndie says
I really like the ‘plum vines’ bottle.
Purple is my favorite color and i love flowers. I need a new bottle since I just beggan Tae Boxing. I would be proud to bring such a bottle to tae boxe sessions.
Janice says
The Otterbottle that most fits my personality is the Cherry Blossom because it reminds me of where I grew up and the beliefs and values my parents instilled in me. This includes reducing what we buy – if we don’t need it we simply don’t buy it! Secondly I remember my parents and even to this day always reusing anything and everything we possibly can… what is junk to most others, it is our treasure to fix and repair and sometimes sell at garage sales. We still plant a garden of course it’s at my parents house, but none the less we all benefit from the produce grown locally. Everyday is a constant reminder of the impression my parents left on me… we drive less – especially with gas prices, we recycle everything we can, we turning out lights and any electronic device or computer when we leave a room, we reduce our water use by not watering the lawn, we reuse our plastic bottles – the kids even take thiers to school and my husband uses his stainless steel bottle. I’ve turned to some of the old “green” methods and cleaning products as taught to me by my parents like baking soda and vinegar as well as buying recycled toilet paper and other environmentally friendly cleaners. During our house renovations we’ve been seeking renewable energy sources and have found many incentives from the city, federal and provincial governments for eco-friendly products like low-flow toilets, a high efficiency furnace, and changed to energy efficient light bulbs and appliances. I have found that transition to eco-friendly living in my adulthood much easier and more importantly environmentally responsible because my parents have always taught me that we do leave a footprint while we’re here and long after we’re gone.
Sandra says
I’d have to pick two as my young son has been looking at the designs with me. He favours the Monsters on Blue bottle while I’m more of a Black Daisy Swirl type of gal. We recycle and compost as well as taking advantage of the goverment’s EcoEnergy program. But I think the best thing we’ve done is had trees around our house providing shade for it. They really cut down on the electricity costs in the summer as we tend to not have to use the air conditioner due to their natural cooling effect.
Doris Calvert says
I need some of these for health reasons, have to drink water and clear liquids all day long, these would be great for that!! I like the purple dragonfly the best!!
shauna hepner says
Great looking and great for the environment!
melissa says
i like the black daisey swirl the best! one thing i do is recycle all our used clothes. i dont buy new if i have to and i try not to throw anything away if it can be donated or used in some other way. also to cut down on traffic congestion my husband and i carpool everywhere and only own one car and its a diesel.
Catherine E says
I love that these bottles are made in Canada – what a great alternative to the pricey SIGG bottles
Heather says
I love the fact that they are not breakable, and sturdier than regular plastic, and last longer. They are also better for our environment, and I’m slowly ‘starting to go green’ as I would love to have one for my daughters lunches!
Margaret says
They all cute!
My kids would love to have one for school!
Thanks for the great giveaway opportunity!
Valerie1961 says
Oh My I have been wanting one of these water bottles for so long ….I just love the looks of them ….very pretty
Betty C says
What our family does to help save the environment is to recycle, recycle, recycle! Our town is fairly progressive in that regards compared to many other towns in our area so we can take in many different things like cardboard, most plastics, all types of paper and aluminum. There are also old phone book drop boxes, an old battery area and a place for old paint. We also always use cloth shopping bags or bins when we grocery shop and a favorite way to de-clutter is to “freecycle” within our town through an online group that I belong to.
Betty C says
So many cool ones but I like the 750 ml silver with black outlined flowers best!
Kelly says
I have 3 kids & they all use reuseable water bottles at school. These bottles seem to good through “the war” every year because they come home banged up & dented, but we are still happy because they last the whole school year! All the designs & colours offered are wonderful… it seems, the brighter the better!!!
sylvia kriksic says
i would love to have this.
Anna Curtis says
They are all great looking!
My family composts and uses the green box for things like tissues. My coffee grounds and egg shells go in the garden, the coffee filters go in the compost. My dryer barely gets used as I use my clotheline all the time instead.
Bryanne Lavoie says
What a great contest!!! It was so hard to choose a favourite…but most of all, I love the black bottle with the white flowers on it.
To help the environment we re-use containers whenever possible, use glass baby bottles and try to purchase products that have been made from recycled material.
Lisa says
I love the Om ones – I’m a yogini so it’s a perfect fit for me. Just a few examples of what we’re doing to lessen our footprint: we use Norwex cleaning cloths so there’s no cleaning chemicals in our home, we (my toddler, baby and I) walk everywhere within a 20min distance and we compost our food scraps. We try really, really hard to be environmental advocates and role models!
Candi says
I have been looking for a water bottle that would be versitial enough to withstand many activities. The Otterbottle’s design not only fit into my coffee holder in the car but works well with the many activities that we attend to. I have tried to do my share of saving the enviroment with recycling koolaid jammers into lunch bags and purses. I also recycle our water/gatorade/juice bottles at least 10 times before putting them into the recycle bins. My children and I are making every concious effort to save what we already have and put as much of it back to use.
Many of our family members are now also more enviormentally friendly and we have encouraged them to look not only at what has been reused but also items such as the Otterbottle to replace their daily usage.
Thanks so much for the creative designs it truly makes this bottle more personal and worth keeping for years to come.
Kerry says
My family is going to Walt Disney World in November. These would be great to take there and walk around the parks with instead of using plastic bottles. They also would be great to take to the kids weekly sports activities. Very cool original designs would help from loosing them too!
Joy says
I love the owl one. My tip is to wash clothes in cold water and then hang outside to dry. Saves energy and money.
Marsha says
I love them all. Each bottle has such a unique and distinctive style. This would be great for the environment.
carmcc says
I just love all the designs…so cheery, bright and cool! Do love the owl if I had to pick just one! We never buy bottled water and everyone in the house could have their own and know which one to grab on the way out the door. Buying earth friendly products is a main focus in our family.. use local produce, packaging and taking reusable bags for shopping.
thischick says
My favorite Otter bottle has to be the Summer Om because it’s symbolism is something I see daily and resonate with in my spiritual life and of course it’s red with is a bonus. As for what my family and I are doing to help the environment, we’ve given up buying bottled water because of the number of plastic water bottles that end up in landfills, it wasn’t something I had thought of doing before but this summer it really hit home just how many bottles are thrown away each and every day. So Otter bottles make perfect sense ecologically. Another thing I’ve done to help the environment is to purchase a cleaner that works on the power of steam by Bissell. I feel so much better knowing I’m not sending loads of chemicals into our water supply every time I clean my home areas like the kitchen or the bathroom. It’s just pure sanitizing steam and I have a chemical free clean home for my family.
michelle says
I love the purple bottle with the dragonfly. purple has always been my favorite colour, and dragonflies abound in our backyard every summer. We have switched to cloth, reusable bags for shopping anywhere. I keep them in my car, my house, attached to my purse. they are great for groceries, library visits, that quick visit into stores where you only went in for one item, but come out with five or more. we have also started using compostable bags for our green kitchen bin.
nej26 says
My fave is the dragonfly.
Our friendly environment tip is recycling!!! Our 2-yr old will place her juice boxes in the recycle bin when she’s done. She will also help daddy in recycling the papers:-)
We go to the nearby supermarkets walking and avoid taking the car this way. We feel that the environment is polluted enough already!!
Rose says
We practice the 3 R’s. Reduse, reuse, recycle everything. We buy used and organic whenever possible. My children are all very environmental aware and active. They are scouts and volunteer frequently for environmental projects. We ride bikes and walk whenever we can. Our home is a safe haven for all wildlings, including bears, deer, racoons etc…
Paula says
My favourite bottle is the Orange Flower Power on Pink Bottle (500ml). My 3 year old loves to help us recycle by putting her used drink boxes in the recycle bin!
DL says
I like the Orange Purple Flower Power design because frugality is in my nature and this design is currently ‘on sale’ at a reduced price on the Otterbottle website! I carry this same frugality from the grocery store with my own reusable bags and I always make sure to purchase items that have recycleable packaging and/or no packaging.
angela says
I like the kaladiscope print in the middle one. I try not to use plastic bags or if i have them i reuse them as much as possible.
maria says
They are all so awesome looking! The 750ml with the purple flower would have to be my fave! I try to elimate as much plastic waste as possible, that means pouring water from a cooler into bottles such as these, grocery shopping with reusable bags, not buying tampons with plastic applicators.
Brenda says
I love the designs- they are very fun and unique!
lisa says
I quite enjoy the black bottle with the white out line of flowers one it. It it very simple but yet pretty. Have 3 teens, and a one year old in our house (two at university, one at college and one in diapers). I purchase a lot of water bottles, on a monthly basis to distribute. Nice product.
elaine miller says
This stuff is so nice!
carly says
I am torn between 3 designs. 1) the dragonfly…i love them and the purple colour is great. 2) the cherry blossoms…i was actually thinking about getting cherry blossoms tattooed on me somewhere. and 3) the graffiti one cause it’s just neat looking. I actually have a few ways that our house hold tries to save the environment. We buy a water filtration system instead of plastic water bottles. My husband walks to work instead of driving and we always use our cloth bags at the grocery store!
Angela Godfrey says
I love the 750ml bottle with the cherry blosms. it’s very pretty. One thing we do as a family is we do not buy bottled water. we will use reusable bottles and take them with us whereever we go.
Pamela Humphrey says
I like the Otterbottle Plum Vines, purple being my new favourite colour. My favourite trip for saving the environment: get rid of your second car, car pool, take the bus, walk or bike…not only great for the environment and your pocket book but helps keep you in shape.
Jacquie Hess says
Otterbottles have such cute designs. My daughter loves carrying one to school.
Natalie Korol says
I like the one with the owl; just to remind us all to be wise! The most important thing for all of us to do right now is to tone it down- do you really need more clothes, the newest things, the latest of this or that? The level of waste we produce today is simply astounding, and so is our sense of entitlement to everything.
petal says
(I want one of these quite badly.lol) I drink a lot of water and can’t leave home without some. You know, I am nearing 50 with kids from 27 to 6 and I remember the days when people did not carry water bottles with them except when running or cycling. How did we manage? What were we thinking? It’s a good thing more people drink more water and these gorgeous little environmentally safe bottles make it so much nicer.
Rebecca says
I have two of these already and they are great! I would love to have some more of them!
Crystal says
Wow… all designs are unique and very pretty, I really can’t pick a favorite, and I don’t think there would be one that I would refuse. The 500 ml bottles would be ideal for taking to work, the 1 litres would be great for the beach or long walks. I try to do whatever I can to reduce, reuse, recycle, but I found myself using my dryer less this year and I have invested in a clothes line.
Brenda Hamilton says
I like the owl design. I try and hang clothes out to dry to save on the dryer running.
Brenda says
I love the plum vines one, I would use it to bring to work and the gym. I love that money earned from these bottles benefits the David Suzuki Foundation. My family and I try to save the environment by unplugging all unnecessary equipments/appliances each day.
Anne Green says
DAG NABIT! I like my Sigg! I especially like the lid. It has spring action so you can leave the top up, it won’t spill cause you have to push on the sippy area for it to open. I like this cause I can keep it by my mat at yoga. It won’t spill if I kick it over… what can I say I’m not very graceful… but it is easy to sip from quickly without making noise between poses.
Okay well like you say, what’s a girl to do! Better safe than sorry right?
Our family has been doing quite a few of the things on Otter Bottle’s list of suggested ways to green your life. We’ve all been carting around our Siggs… hopefully soon to be Otter Bottles… instead of buying the cases of water. Saves money too!
We use a programmable thermostat, and are trying to remember to shut lights off more often! I always use cold water when washing my clothes, and the dishwasher is always full when it runs.
We’ve been saving $ by making our tea and coffee at home and using our travel mugs… HEY… maybe Otter Bottle should get into making those too!
I will admit to not always bringing my own bag to the grocery store, the one down the street still gives us plastic bags for free. I have a dog, so I recycle them. Yes I know I can compost that, but lets just say I’m not quite ready to take that step yet.
I’m also not quite ready to become a vegetarian… though I do eat as much locally grown produce as possible. I love going to farmers markets. Locally grown taste better too! I did host a vegan weekend at the cottage recently… I survived… and even enjoyed… all the food. (Was a gassy ride home in the care though!)
I’ve been having fun checking out the Otter Bottle designs and I think the one that best fits my personality is 750 ml one with the brown branches and the pink flowers. It reminds me of a dogwood tree that was outside my window as a child.
I am also VERY fond of the 1 litre bottle with the flowers. I might see if I can buy that one for the cottage. We keep a bottle of tap water in the washroom. Since the cottage gets it’s water from the lake you can’t drink the tap water. So we keep a bottle of potable water in the washroom. I’ve been refilling an old Evian plastic water bottle. This would probably be safer no?
drjess says
I like the Black Daisy Swirl in 700 ml. My life is always in a swirl and I love daisies, so it fits me. My family is big on recycling. We try to reduce our consumption of plastic and boxed materials and then will recycle what we do need to purchase.
lynn clayton says
I recycle and ah ve a compost my three year old loves the worms and my neighbors love the free soul the worms produce. I really like the 50 bottle with the flames
Mariels says
I like the Dragonfly on Purple Bottle, as this is my favorite color!
Angela Griffin says
I like the purple dragonfly. At home, we have a worm composter for all our kitchen scraps!
Mike Gismondi says
I like a 1L size because I drink a lot!
Joyce says
Has to be the cherry blossom; just reminds me of my favorite season; dont get me wrong these are all so unique it was hard to decide.
Elaine J says
I live the Dragonfly on purple – simple, but beautiful. We compost our kitchen scraps to make compost for our vegetable garden. Also, we take re-useable bags to the grocery store. We are also fortunate to live in Edmonton, which has a wonderful curbside recycling program, so our garbage is fairly minimal.
Marlene V. says
I really like the Cherry Blossom (750ml) bottle. My family now recycles more — we reduced our garbage weekly from a full large garbage bag to only 1 small grocery bag:) We are a family of 6 so I think this is pretty good!! I also use bins and re-usable grocery bags when I go grocery shopping. My best tip is to lead by example so that your children care about our world too!!! Thanks for the giveaway:)
Sonja Jose says
I love the bottle with the cherry blosoms. I’ve been plastic bag free since December 2007. I bring my own shopping bags now.
Grace says
I like the green one with the rain drops as it tells us that we really are saving the environment by using these.
Maureen says
I love the bottle with the cherry blossoms.
My family try to buy as much of our groceries at the local farmer’s market, not only are we supporting local farmer’s but we are reducing our carbon foot print too.
I also purchased reusable fruit/veggie bags so when we do have to shop at the grocery store we don’t use plastic bags
SweetP says
I love the Owl on the Orange bottle design.
My family and I have been recycling over 12 years, using green bins AND blue bins. We’ve been using reusable grocery bags for shopping. We own a business and when there’s a delivery close to the business, we use a bike to deliver the goods. We shop as local as possible – making trips to the farmer’s market as regular in the summer and winter.
Cathy M. says
I love the simple style of the one at the top of this article. We have been recycling for years. No plastic allowed
ChristineB says
I love the bottle with the daisies on it. We help the environment by not taking plastic disposable spring water to school. We give our kids tap water and use reusable bottles. I would love one of this bottles.
Linda says
I like that we (all 5) could have a different one, so that means no fighting.
Jennifer Reynard says
These are Great!
Suzette MacNevin says
My favorite Otterbottle is the purple with a dragon fly on it. By recycling all our household waste, limiting the purchase of packaged foods, saving energy by turning off lights, turning down the thermostat and limiting water waste, our family takes steps daily to help in protecting our environment.
JoAnne says
I LOVE the butterfly — it is a free spirit (just like me).
I recycle all of our paper and cardboard. If we MUST have plastic shopping bags, they get recycled, too. I have about a million cloth shopping bags, and use them as much as legally possible. I have CFL bulbs throughout my home. All lights are off, and everything electrical is unplugged if not in use.
Julie says
I love the 750ml bottle with the orange, blue and pink diamonds on it…It is so cute! It reminds me of mys girls’ bedrooms when they were younger. Brings back such good memories!! Thanks
BettyBoop says
I just fell in love with the cherry blossom bottle. What a stylish way to save on the amout of plastic bottles being used and the trashed.
coldzigy says
save the earth and use reusable water bottles!
Debbie W. says
I like the cherry blossom in 750 ml. is nice.
I am big on recycling. Our city just did an audit of my garbage (eek), and I am 97% diversion from the landfill. City goal is 65%. I am proud of my efforts.
rosa says
I like the one with the purple and orange flowers. I pack my kids snacks, and sandwiches in reusable containers. I also use containers for my lunch as well as my husband’s lunch. We are big recyclers at home. I avoid using the dryer as much as possible. I usually air dry our laundry. We also make sure that we turn off lights when we leave a room.
Patty B says
I really like the black one with flowers because it is unique and classic.
Stephanie N says
I personally like the owl one, 750ml, although my daughter likes the one that is on this site. We are big recyclers and always take bottles to work and school.
Catherine says
Ahhh there were SO many i loved there but I did like the dragonfly on purple in the 750ml. Only wish there were more options in the 900ml, I drink a LOT of water and a 750ml isn’t quite big enough for me! To help the environment (and our wallet) my husband and I shop for almost everything used. Our clothes come from the local thrift store, as does most of our house decor. We are about to buy a used stove (still new enough to have energy savings though!), but 1/2 the price of the new one, so it PAYS to be enviromentally conscious!
michellelau77 says
I absolutely adore the monster in blue bottle! It’s got great character and fits my crazy personality, which has apparently transcended onto the kids, according to the husband! Aliens rock!
As for the environment, as a family, we’ve made colourful signs on all the light switches at home to remind ourselves to turn the lights off whenever we leave every room. We’ve also totally cut out the use of bottled water at home. We love to flavour our water up with the different fruits of the seaon and always have a jug handy in the fridge – our favourite so far are slices of bosc pears and oranges!
Silvana Cox says
Great idea, helps the environment and great lokking bottles!
Heidi says
I can’t decide between the Owl and the Poppies – both are beautiful! It’s important to me not to use any pesticides in the garden and to provide plenty of water and food for birds and small animals, especially in the winter. Also, NO disposable plastic water bottles.
Riker1 says
Black Daisy Swirl is my favourite. Citizens in our municipality are discouraged from having garage sales, due to the over-regulations, red tape, and high fees. We are trying to get this bylaw overturned, because so many goods are thrown into our landfills every year, because we are discouraged from having garage sales in our city.
irokella says
I love the black bottle with the daisies on it. One thing that our family does for the envirnoment is packing litterless lunches. This is something that is fairly easy to do if you plan ahead.
janetm says
I really like the Cherry Blossom 700 ml bottle. It is delicate but strong so I guess that fits me. With autumn having arrived we will recyle the leaves back into the lawn and the garden for healthier soil next year.
Vivienne says
I guess my faves are Pink Flower Power and Plum Vines. Our environmental efforts include greening our cleaning products, buying organic when we can afford, work from home as much as possible, recycling (our recycling bin is 3 or 4 times fuller than our garbage) and buying second-hand most of the time (reducing and reusing). I walk to our local grocery/recycling centre with toddler in the stroller and “big girl” on the bike, and load up the stroller basket with recycling/deposit items. The kids just assume this is natural – we never take the car.

I like the purple dragonfly design as well. Thanks for having a givaway.

Loving the 500ml “Pink Vine” design!
Our family has definitely cut down on the plastic bottle frenzy by using a fridge water-filter jug and good ol’ tap water.
Dawn says
I love these water bottles. I never buy bottled water, we always fill up reuseable ones, we have also had an energy audit done on our house and are reinsulating, getting a newer more efficient furnace to try and save energy. Every little bit helps.
Catherine says
I can’t pick! The cherry blossom and dragonfly are both lovely.
Our family is the greenest city dwelling family I know. We recycle everything, we buy and sell a lot second hand. We compost & have a rain barrel. I cycle to work most of the year and take public transit in the winter. We grow our own herbs and a few vegetables in our pesticide free garden. We always have our own water bottles and coffee mugs & reusable bags. Our appliances are energy star. We pack our lunches & leftovers in reusable containers. We have low-flow water fixtures and CFL bulbs. We have installed ceiling fans in strategic spots in our home to both aid in cooling in the summer circulate the effects of solar heating in the winter. We also use safer cleaning products, such as vinegar, baking soda and borax. And our two girls (both under three) are learning these lessons at home.
Denise Barac says
I love the 500mL pink bottle with the orange flowers. My twin 4 year old girls would love it too. Now that they have started school, i’m trying to stress the importance of learning, eating well, and taking care of our environment. I have let them know that you can never to be too young or too old to make a difference. If everyone did a little bit to help, it would add up to a lot. They are young and very impressionable and it is the perfect age for them to learn to be environmentally responsible. I am doing my best to show them how we as a family can reduce our environmental footprint through recycling, using reusable items, owning only one fuel-efficient car, walking when possible and not being wasteful with anything.
Thanks for your consideration in this great giveaway and for bringing attention to a cause that is so important!
laurie says
the bottle designs are all beautiful it is very hard to choose a favorite
i am quite taken by the dragonfly and the owl though
i Tupperware for my sandwiches and leftovers and we compost and recycle as much as possible .

I love the black bottle with the white flowers. To help the enviroment, we use only recyclable materials for our lunches, I only do laundry with full loads and use cold water, I buy most things in bulk to keep down the waste and I try to buy things in recyclable containers.
Chelsey says
I like the pink blossoms best of all.
My family walks to school / grocery stores when able. I send my daughter to school with litterless lunches — reusable containers, water bottles and bags. We recycle and reuse everything we can. We compost and have started growing some of our own vegetables.
Thanks for the giveaway…
iwanika says
The Otterbottle which best suits my personality is the cherry blossom with branches. I guess you could say it is a metaphor for the way I live my life-the blossoms represent new growth in my life and the branches are the strength and lessons learned in the past.
The tip I have to help save the environment is never idle your vehicle unnecessarily. Get a programmable car starter for the winter months.
lin55 says
I like the purple one with the dragonfly or any of the silver ones with designs. They are all so nice. We have recycled cans, bottles, and papers for yrs. and it’s just part of our everyday routine.
Rebecca says
So many great designs! I’d have to say my favorites are Plum Vines, and Black Daisy Swirl. I will definitely be buying one (or some) of these! Love that they’re Canadian and love that they’re prettier than some other stainless steel bottles.
Our household does a lot of the standard things like recycling, composting, energy and water conservation, etc., but we’re currently focusing on ditching the disposables – using cloth diapers and wipes, cloth napkins, reusable cloths for cleaning (i.e. cutting down on paper towels, swiffers, etc.), carrying cloth grocery bags, using reusable coffee cups and water bottles, and bringing our own take-out containers.
mistycarole says
My favourite is the Black Daisy Swirl. I always loved daisy for some reason. To help the environment we stop bying plastic water bottle and we bought a Brita. I love my Brita.
shakiran says
I like the 500 ml blue water bottle with the stars and funky little creatures…kind of “out there”! We never buy plastic water bottles, never use plastic bags (if I could just remember to bring those cloth bags with me everytime so that I don’t have to keep buying them 🙂 and my kids know the difference between the blue bin, green bin, and garbage.
CariC says
I love the big black design on the stainless steel (I really liked all that were black on stainless).Simple and Elegant!
My environmental tip is to get out and garden. Whether vegetable or flower, it gets the whole family outside; the TV, computer and lights get turned off…away from electricity in general. Our gardens uses the odd newspapers we do buy (for weed protection and mulch), compostable items (free soil yearly). Exercise – do you know how long it takes to try to weed all my gardens and lawn!
Michelle says
I love the cherry blossom design as well as the pink vine because they remind me of my daughter. She has just turned one and is obsessed with flowers and smells each and every one we pass!
We are trying hard to be good role models for her in terms of protecting the environment. We try not to waste water so we do things like water the garden with the water from the dehumidifier, only using the dishwasher when we need to and when it’s full, and turning the tap off when we are brushing our teeth instead of letting it run.
Maria C Forbes says
Love the Owl design!
We try to reduce our carbon footprint by walking, jogging or taking the bus anywhere we need to go!
My kids really learn the value of a dollar because we conserve reduce and recycle everyting possible. I t helps having a war time Grand parent reminding us that people right here in Canada used to do this as a mater of course!
water is much better out of a reuseable container besides the fact its not sugary liquid!
Good all the way around!
Thanks!
Sabrina Forestell says
My favourite bottle is the Purple bottle with the dragonfly on it. How unique!
Our family is very conscious of the little things we can do. We all bring our own re-usable water containers everywhere we go, and we bring our lunch to school and work. We all have litterless lunches, and bring home any waste we accumulate while we’re away from home to either compost or recycle. The best part is that it’s second nature for our children. Even my 3 year old knows what goes in the green bin! It really makes me proud when I see my kids thinking of ways to re-use and reduce. The long term impact for our future generations is a positive one!
armstark says
I love the Black Daisy Swirl, but they were out of stock when I bought mine – I have the Blue Brown Flower Power – and it’s equally and great!
To help the environment, we recycle all our paper and plastics and make sure to take out reusable grocery bags with us too. I also help run a mom’s group and we recycle everything from paper towel rolls to applesausce containers making crafts and such with things found our houses that would otherwise be tossed.
My kids know now that when a plastic bottle is empty, to go put it in the blue bin! It’s like a treat for them to go do it!
AgnesM says
The designs are so wonderful but I think my favourite is the dragonfly. It fits my idea of being kind to the environment because dragonflies are very beneficial as they get rid of pests and also beautiful with their shimmery wings.
To help the environment as a family we take our own bags to get groceries and also when we go shopping for other things so we don’t add plastic bags to our landfills. We try to reuse as much as possible and what we can’t reuse we recycle thus we have very little to put in the trash.
pjg says
I like the one with the big purple flower – no reason, I just love purple!
In our home, we compost, recycle, and re-use all we can. We usually have only one bag of garbage to put out every two weeks.
These bottles are wonderful!
Patricia Boyle says
I love the Rock Star 750 ml bottle – reminds me of the Lone Star state.
Lindsay says
In our household there are three children in diapers at this point in time. We use all cloth diapers and cloths wipes, as well as all natural soap nuts to launder the diapers. It makes for a little bit more work, but it cuts down a huge amount on trash that we put out. It doesn’t hurt that it saves us a great deal of money each month too! We try to group together errands with outings so that we aren’t wasting time or gas. In addition we purchase many items that are “upcycled” (aka used). Like most families these days, we also recycle everything that can be in our municipality.
The best Otterbottle design in my opinion is the black one with daisies on it.
Shelly says
I would like to win the 750 ml skull bottle. With 3 kids who often don’t want to carry their own bottles, I need to carry enough water for us all. We are helping the environment by filling our water bottles at home and not buying plastic water bottles from our grocer
CynthiaK says
White daisies on black bottle! Actually, all of the designs were just amazing but I think that one is my favourite. It’s funky without too much effort.
While we can always do better when it comes to being environmental, we work hard to compost, recycle, litterless lunches for the kids, choosing items with the least amount of packaging, keeping temperatures moderate in the house, and using hand-me-downs when possible. We’re always learning something new that can reduce our carbon footprint!
Tara Duncan says
I love the 1 litre size with the purple design on it. I love that it can hold so much liquid!
We all use reusable stainless steel canteens in our family (but they are not as pretty as the Otter bottles. We try to never buy juice boxes (even though they are recycleable, it still takes resources to break them down. I figure every little bit helps!
Sandra Campbell says
The Otterbottle that suits my personality the best is the one with the black outline flowers.
The main thing that our family has done for the environment lately was to raise our daughter diaper-free. At 6 weeks she began using the potty when inside and using inconspicuous places (like behind trees & bushes) when outside. We did use disposables at first but averaged 1-2 per day instead of the 10+ we’d been using before. At 9 months she began wearing little underwear and we used 1 pull-up/day naps and one at night just in case). Now at age 2 1/2, she has been completely free from diapers and pull-ups for almost a year. We had considered using cloth diapers, and even purchased them, but I was unhappy with the amount of laundry and the restrictiveness of the diapers. Diaper-free is definitely the way to go – I highly recommend it to everyone with a new baby in their life!! Our new project is making our own compost:-)
Nena Sinclair says
I love these Otterbottles! The designs are great, but more importantly, I believe it’s a much better alternative to plastic bottles. Not to mention, much more eco friendly! Being a Canadian product is a plus as well!
Deirdre M says
I love the skulls. Totally me. You think its a nice sleek bottle and then you get a closer look to see the hint of a rebel
A few things we do are 1) recycle. IN a town complex of 22 we are one of 5 units that recycle. our oldest daughter (4) knows some things that go in the the kitchen blue bin and what goes into the garbage.
Even today we left my sisters and someone left the wraper to their cigarette’s on the grass. She went over and stated “this is disgusting, someone left their garbage here.” and then had to run back into the house to throw it out.
2) we reuse our clothing. With 3 girls (4,2, 5m) we have been blessed to just hand them down the clothes. WIth the purchase of 1- items new per season (for the younger girls recieving the clothing) AND when they are done, we donate to our church that sends to africa the clothing.
They are aware of giving some toys to kid who dont have any
we also last year went from a 2 car family to a 1 car, 1 scooter. My husband either walks to rides his bicycle to work. AND has his scooter for when he wants to run a few errands but does not want to take my larger car.
Kerrie M says
My favourite Otterbottle is the Otter Bottle Vines. But it was reallly hard to choose between that one and the Plum vines and pink vines varieties.
Some things that I do to save the environment are composting, recycling whatever we can, using rain barrels to catch rain water, and use that to water plants outside.
We also have started to grow a garden in order to have fresh fruits and vegetables that we have grown. We also try to shop at farmers markets as much as possible. I think that these little steps help with reducing transportation of these items (and all the associated effects of that), and it also helps to make healthier eating choices at the same time.
Charlene Vidal says
I like the purple bottle with the dragonfly that would be my first choice. They have many to choose from.
I use cloth bags when transporting my grocery from the store to home.
sandra p says
My favourite one is shown above in the article. Its vibrant and makes me think of the outdoors.
I stress the importance of the environment with my family e by setting an example.
I conserve water and always air dry my clothes. Little things add up.
Lin says
They look great! I would love to have one.
Heather says
I have to say that I like all the designs with the beautiful colors, but my favourite would be the dragonfly.
My family composts, keep our bags for groceries and shopping in our car, laundry is hung outside (smells so nice), use refillable containers for lunches and drinks, have a large garden with no pesticide use and harvest the garden for use through the winter months, and when watching tv in the evening we usually turn off all the lights and have a few candles lit.
jeanten says
This is the best thing ever for transporting cold beverages, I love the look and it can be used all day and night saving the use of water glasses at home! Less dish washing.
lacrossemum says
Love the bottle with the purple flowers and butterflys…deffinetly based my baby
girls nursury on the whole purple and butterfly theme.
As for energy saving, I now shave my legs using a bucket instead of the bathtub or the shower…it deffinetly saves on the water bill and there is actually hot water left when I finish now.
Stephanie says
The bottle that best fits the personality of my family the one with the dragonfly. Like dragonflies, our family has “multifaceted eyes” and we each have different ideas and therefore approaches to what we can do to save the environment.
Over the past number of years we’ve taken small, but progressive steps to bettering our environment. These include going from being a 2 car family to having only 1 car, never purchasing bottled water (the tap with a filter will do!), composting at home in our back yard as much as we can (reducing compost to the city to only what we cannot compost ourselves), using glass rather than quasi-disposable plastic containers that have fairly limited lifespans.
These are all things that we’ve worked up to over the years. That said, my favorite tip for saving the environment has been extending our “Earth Hour” to be more than just an annual gig to lessen energy consumption. We do this weekly and make quite an event of it, sometimes playing games, but typically using it to talk about things important to us – like saving the environment. Our little one just loves family time by candlelight and it has become our own little tradition that we look forward to each week.
erin2470 says
I love the pink blossoms on the 750ml. My little steps is too bring my own bags to stores, and turn off the lights.
Mary Williams says
I love the purlpe dragonfly one – I’m a purple nut! 🙂
Carmen Shaw says
The cherry blossom is so zen! I love the style of the bottles in general, the wide mouth is perfect since I HATE sucking on a bottle. Let me drink like a normal adult anyday!
patty4 says
I think this is a wonderful promotion, and a very ethical product. It is always great to hear what others are doing to help the enviorment, it gives me hope that our planet will survive. I am constantly striving to be a better consumer, and always take reusable bags with me into the store. I practice all the usual things, recycling, composting, no use of pesticides on my lawn and the like, but more importantly I try to encourage others to do the same. We all can be activists in the choices we make in our daily lives.
And oh yes, my favourite bottle is the one with the stars on it!
Diana Plavins says
I love the one with the skulls, its cute and nasty all in one. My family has given up prepackaged drinks and everyone makes their own drinks for their lunch bags in the morning, in their own washable bottles
batye123 says
love the colors
Tina Farthing says
These bottles are all so lovely! I especially like the black bottle with the white flowers.
My family recycles and composts. We try to minimize waste everyday in our home. My littlest even knows the importance of recycling!
tjbugnet says
I like the Lotus Flower design on the 750mL bottle. The way my family tries to help the environment is through using Brita filters rather than buying bottled water (too much plastic!).
Dianne Leib says
500 ml Green Camo is my fav. We hang dry our wash whenever possibles. Sometimes it’s freeze dried!
Idas says
Eco bottles do more than save landfills from filling up. We have stopped drinking so much juice and junk drinks because we now faithfully carry water.
Many wasted calories gone. Making room for more nutrition.
Angela says
Love the silver 750 mL bottle with the flower design. So pretty. My environmental tip is to prepare litterless lunches. It creates so much less trash when you buy in bulk and use your own small containers instead of buying individually packaged items. It’s not only more eco-friendly, it’s cost-effective, too!
BarbN says
I like the Pink Vine 500ml the best. It is a handy size to take anywhere.
One thing our family does for the environment is to stop using the dryer in the warmer months and hang clothes outside. We usually manage not to turn on the dryer from mid April to mid October and all of our clothes smell fresh while reducing energy consumption (and cost!).
gentleone says
I like the fushia coloured bottle with the orange flowers on it. It is smaller for the chidlren to be able to handle and it will also not get lost due to the colours. I use a walter filter on my tap instead of buying bottled water and recycle to the point of only have one bag of garbage about every six weeks.
anglia says
I love the silver 750ml bottle with daisy print.I have a large garden and all the carrot tops, beet tops etc. are tilled back into the garden savea on garbage and great for the soil.
Teresa says
Hard to choose. Love the dragon fly because it’s so striking in colour and simple in design. Our simplest green initiative in our home, always take a couple of reusable bags on our outings (we just tuck a couple of compact ones in our backpack). It’s also a good idea to keep a few in your car for that impromtu trip to the grocery store.
Karen says
My daughter and I like the Cherry Blossom, she’s a girlie girl like mommy! There’s little things that make a difference, we’re sure to close the faucet when brushing our teeth, turn off the lights not being used and ensure all recycling and compost is being separated correctly. These are habits that are a must.
saxon ritchie says
WOW awesome prize!!! would love it. thanks for the chance
pish says
The design I love the best is the Owl on the Orange 750mL bottle. But it’s a tough choice – there are so many great styles!
We switched last year to using only fabric grocery bags, and this year we’ve acquired the habit of bringing them in to all stores, not just our grocery store. We also began using reusable mesh bags for our loose produce instead of the plastic provided by the store. It is causing us to look harder at all the plastic we use, and consider ways to eliminate it!
Michelle Bradley says
I am an Otterbottle daisy fan as well, my daughter had gerbera daisies at her wedding and that has been the theme since then. In our family environment, we work hard to recycle all our compost and reduce our garbage outpout. Our composter and the wing-ding we use to stir things up are our pride and joy. Thanks for the great opportunity to win!
Kim says
I love the one that is silver with the purple flowers… All 4 of us are involved in recycling in our family. My youngest is 23 months old and I hand her something and ask her to put it in the recycling box and she knows where it is. My eldest is 5 and she understands why we recycle. It has become second nature to our whole family. We recycle everything we can, including old toys, clothes, etc. We donate all of these to the women’s shelter. We also take our own bags when shopping and reduce the amount of garbage we have by choosing carefully what we purchase and the amount of packaging on it
Gayle says
I love the brown/green flower power Otter Bottle 500 mls . It just seems to speak for the environment. Of course , we recycle. We have a water filtration system installed so we are able to drink clean water all the time and fill our own bottles to take with us rather than purchase plastic water bottles . We also donate all of our unwanted household items to groups like Big Brothers and Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
ehelfand says
I like all of the flower designs.
We try to buy products with the least packaging possible, use our organics bin and recycle everything possible.
CathyB says
I live the one with the star. We are actually excited to get our new green box from the city to help with composting…Less waste is always better for the environment.
Stacy says
Well I am between two, I love the purple with the dragonfly, it is the girly girl in me I suppose, but the one with the orange writing and single orange and black flower really speaks to me though I can’t yet determine what it is saying, just an unexplainable draw.
Debra B says
I like the 750ml Otter Bottle Poppies as we are a military family and poppies are very symbolic for us. We recycle and compost and use fabric totes just to name a few ways we have gone more green.
Catherine says
I love the fact that this trendy water bottle has multiple sizes and styles- versitile for all family members.
sarah says
I love the Lotus design the best, but they are all beautiful designs.
One of the biggest things we do for the environment is recycling. Even my 2 year old son loves to help us and knows exactly which bin to put things in. Recycling every week in addition to composting means our family of 4 has gotten down to 1 bag(or less!) of trash at the curb every week and we are very proud of that.
Lori says
I love the purple dragonfly one – it’s my favourite colour. To help the environment, I try to give away anything that could be reused by another family. Kijiji and Freecycle are my fave sites, as I have given away tvs, radios, children’s books, clothing, anything that could be reused by someone else. And I get stuff from there too – a wagon for my neices, clothing for my son, chairs … the sites are fantastic and a great way to try to stay as green as possible!
Lee-Ann says
I love the dragonfly bottle. Here in Winnipeg, we love dragonflies – they are pretty and help out with the mosquitoes!
I try to pack litterless lunches for the kids, use cloth diapers (most of the time), and try to leave the van at home as much as possible.
mj mendes says
the bottles look cool and funky! great for school lunches
brenda says
Love the cherry blossom design as I have fond memories of living in Japan. Like the Japanese we have reuseable containers for our lunches to avoid “making trash”.
lesley mcquade says
I like the purple dragonfly the best, or the blue aliens for my son. I am trying to pack litterless lunches for my kids for preschool, I buy bulk snacks and then put them in snap n seal tupperware which is easy for little hands to open. I also have changed to SS bottles with water instead of juice boxes.
Karri says
I love the orange bottle with the owl on it!!! It’s so rare to be able to find orange *anything*, and it’s such a happy, energetic colour! (which is why it suits my personality…) I also love the owl’s big, curious eyes – they remind me of how my daughters look when they’re amazed by something new.
My tip for saving the environment? Make being green easy! The easier you make it, the more likely you are to do it! So keep your recycling bins in, if not right beside, the kitchen, so you don’t have to go outside, or trek through your garage or backyard to get to your big blue bin every day. Make the big haul out to the bin a one-day, family affair so that the kids can really see how much is being collected and recycled, and how much would have been thrown away… The volume will surprise you *and* them, and will make a big impression on just how much we contribute by recycling.
Kristy says
I like the designs that with snowflake or flower patterns. Especially in 1000ml size, as I usually need all that water. I think there is a huge benefit in doing small things for the environment everyday. I think we should all be recycling household garbage, composting and riding our bikes or walking when going short distances from home. Imagine the impact if we were all the commit seriously to these small things.
Carol Korol says
The bottles are all so uniguely designed. The world would be a much better and cleaner and safer place if these water bottles could just replace all the toxic drinking containers. The Owl is Wise, The Red Poppies hope …….
Jennifer says
I LOVE the Cherry Blossom Design in the 750mL. I would choose this design, because it is pretty, and pink! I would choose this size because it is the biggest bottle with the design I like. I also prefer my bottle to be divided into “cups”, so a 3-cup bottle lets me count how many I am drinking each day!
My way to save teh environment is we don’t use air conditioning at all, we use “green” light bulbs, and we use refillable water jugs.
Cheryl says
Oooh – I really like the dragonfly. In my family we do use ziplocks for snacks, but they all come home and we wash and keep using them. I hang them to dry with a magnet on the oven hood. Works great.
joanneelford says
These bottles are beautiful! My favorite is the Cherry Blossom in the 750ml size.
My family does many little things to help the environment. One of them is to use the online freecycle program. If I need something, I can look to see if anyone one else has one that they no longer need and if I have something I no longer need, I can give it to someone who can use it. The whole point of the program is to keep as much out of the landfill as possible. Why throw it away when someone else could use it. Everybody wins and when it comes to the environment, that’s what we want.
smr917 says
The red one with the orange star burst pattern is my choice! It’s bright and fun and people would definitely ask me about it!
At home, we recycle, compost, use rainwater, hang dry our laundry, eat responsibly, walk or bike ride most places, use a reel mower… I do whatever I can to help Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. I do believe that every bit counts and that the children in my care will learn to do the same things since they see me do these things on a regular basis.
Lina says
I like the one with the “Go Green” graffiti. I know my boys would think I was a cool mom.
At home we recycle, conserve our energy, compost etc. We always try to re-use everything. We are now down to one garbage bag and every week we try to lessen the amount.
Lori Belanger says
I love the hot pink bottle with orange flower design that’s on the main page – it’s funky!
One of the things my kids & I decided to do this year was buy plastic reusable drinking boxes & skip the juice boxes to reduce waste. We’re so far 2 weeks into the school year & I haven’t heard a single complaint – bonus! 🙂
vicki demunck says
I like the black on with the flowers on it. My family recycles and composts. We are always looking for new ways to help the enviroment.
Nicole Isaac says
I like the owl. We all bring our lunches to school/work in reusable containers and I drive a diesel car.
Monica Clarkson says
I think the cherry blossom bottle is quite pretty, very girl.
We recycle using our blue bin program within the city of Calgary. When shopping we use re-usable shopping bags, and try to eat at home as much as possible to avoid fast-food packaging. Our greatest challenge was when we went camping this year. We brought our own recycling bag and brought all our recycling home to our bin. Also when shopping for a trailer we chose an Evergreen-Everlite, with the purchase of our trailer they plant a tree. Also the company is constantly researching for more enviromently friendly products to make their product out of.
On park outings throghout the city with my sister, and nephew we pack a lunch cooler to share with re-usable containers. Not only environmentally friendly, but cost effective too.
Within our home we have changed our lighting over to more energy efficent ones. We are trying very hard to do our part, however I am sure there is more yet to do.
pamr says
I think the purple dragonfly bottle suits my personality the best. We reuse our plastic freezer bags, recycle, and buy in bulk when we can to create less waste.
Aida says
I like the blue one with the sign, and the one with the black thing I don’t even know what it is!
I’m really stunned for the energy and water wasting in Toronto (coming from a country where water is gold, it’s really painful to see all this wasting). I focus on turning off all the lights I’m not using (all those office buildings with the ligths on at midnight!!!), saving water, and recycling.
ebickell says
I actually have a green Flower Power bottle already, which is the perfect bottle for me. I use it all the time. My hubby is jealous!
This year we started our own vegetable garden and also built a composter. So we’ve been eating local, organic veggies from our own backyard all summer! It’s been great. This fall I’m doing preserves; preserving my own home-grown vegetables will not only save money but it cuts out the shipping, packaging and chemical fertilizers involved in buying canned veggies at the store!
Melody Halls says
I love water bottles! I think spending money on bottled water is such a waste! I bring water with me everywhere.
Linkin101 says
The plum vines otter bottle best fits my personality…i like the simply but pretty design. About a year ago, i bought a britta water filter. it was a great purchase to help the environment, because we no longer buy water bottles(a family of four can go through a lot of water bottles!!) The otter bottles would be great to help with this as well!
Jodei Meyer says
My favorite is the black with daisy’s. But really they all are great. My family installed a revearse osmosis water purifier and we refill our water bottles. I have also finally convinced my husband to recycle!! Yes we used to just toss everything in the garbage, no more now EVERYTHING goes in the blue box. Soon our neighbourhood is getting green bins for organic waste..soo excited.
Elisa says
I love the black daisy swirl.
Just to name a few…my family (including my 3 year old daughter) knows the importance of the ‘garbage’ vs. ‘green bin’ vs. blue bin’. We bring our own bags to grocery stores. We all have designated bags for lunch…no more plastic bags!
Nicole C says
I love the Cherry Blossom Bottle, it is nice and feminine.
Valerie1961 says
I think I would like anyone really ….I have been wanting one of these bottles for soooooo long and it would be great for me to take with me when I’m out and about walking around downtown.
Katie says
What a great way to spread the word about a great Canadian company! If I had to pick just one, I would choose the black daisy swirl. Kind of cute and kind of funky all at the same time.
In our house, we focus on recycling — making sure that the kids have easy access to the green bins & blue bins (used to keep our green bin up high on the counter top), always turning off the lights when we leave a room & being mindful of water use (turn on taps only for the exact amount of water required).
Ann says
I LOVE these funky designs! I especially like the blue camoflage (500ml) and the purple and pink flower (500 ml) designs. They are the perfect size and unique look for my kids. It’s important to me that my kids have good quality and durable bottles for school because I advocate litterless lunches/snacks in an effort to reduce the waste we contribute to the environment. And my efforts have paid off because now my kids tell me when something belongs in the compost or recycle bin!

I love the black daisy swirly 750 ml bottle, and the 500 ml is the perfect size for putting in my son’s lunchbag!
We try hard to go for the ‘litterless’ lunch to help maintain the environment in our small way. It makes for a bigger lunchbag, but I feel better knowing that we are making small changes for a big impact.

I love the cherry blossom design — it’s elegant.
Wow, I am so impressed by the comments people are taking the time to write and humbled by how little we do in comparison, ‘tho we’ve gone without a car for several years to use a car-sharing program instead (that’s big), try to walk or use public transport as often as possible and buy used clothes and toys.

I love the 500 mL green camouflage bottle… perfect for my two-year old when he rides in the stroller to drop my kids off at school!
For the environment, we always carry our recyclable shopping bags, ensure everyone in the house understands the importance of the recycle pile and the “special” garbage can (green bin) and we’re trading in our gas-guzzling big truck next week! For myself, when I grocery shop, I am constantly reading where produce comes from… Canadian produce always tops my list!

I love the cherry blossom one – I have always loved cherry blossom trees! My daughter would love the owl one – she loves the colour orange and we are big bird watchers. We try and do our part, however small. We recycle as much as we can, we bring our own shopping bags to stores, we use spiral lightbulbs, we use refillable water bottles, the kids have litterless lunches, and we choose products that are able to be refilled or are recycled or are environmentally friendly. I also reuse my coffee grounds and tea bags into my flower beds. I also try not to use the car too much but our city is so spread out and our bus services are being cut quite a bit that sometimes it is unavoidable to use the vehicle. I am teaching my children the little things that they can do to help – they like recycling and they don’t run the water when they are brushing their teeth. They like the fact that they are helping the environment and when we are out at camp and get to see wildbirds such as bald eagles and blue herons, it makes it a little bit more real – they realize that if we didn’t do our part, we might not see these birds because their habitats are disappearing.

I like teh purple flowers on the silver bottle – cute yet stylish.
For the environment I’ve taught the kids to compost and recycle everything they can – even when they spit out their food (it’s too spicy mom!) they do it in the compost!!
I am also teaching them to turn off lights when not needed and to try not to waste the water when they’re brusing their teeth

I’m lovin’ the Summer Om bottle…so very yogic and so me. I must have been a yogi in my past life. My 2 boys would love the Monsters on Blue…just because they are boys and love monsters and anything wacky! My son who is in SK, proudly takes his Laptop Lunches box(a bento style lunch box) with him to school. Not only is it environmentally friendly, completely litterless but he actually eats all of his food! We also send empty paper towel and toilet rolls to school with him to be used for class crafts. Not only are we reusing but helping out his school.

My favorite is the Otter Bottle Vines 1000ml, but I love them all. They are so colorful and fun. We try to shop local. It is important to support our local farmers. We go to our farmers market every week. I refuse to buy American fruits or vegtables that are grown right here in our province.

These are beautiful and the designs are fantastic. I have a young family and already they are doing their part for the environment. When we go shopping which they love to do (2 girls, ages 3 and 1 1/2) they are in charge of the reusable bags. They go and grab them and let me know that they are ready. Also they are doing well with knowing the difference of the garbage, and recycling. I hope that by teaching them this young than maybe it will be contagious and they can teach someone else.
Janet says
I Love them all, they are beautiful, but if I had to choose it would be the blue bottle with the little monster on it.
As for loving and taking care of our planet, we try to think ahead when purchasing. We don’t buy a lot of disposable items, and make do with things instead of constantly upgrading (electronics etc ).

I like the 750 ml bottle with the purple flowers.Every night I get our refillable bottles ready for work or travel.

I love the Dragonfly on purple bottle. It would add some flair to my desk at work even if it clashes a little bit with the blue box.
One of my favourite internet discussion groups is Freecycle. I love the fact that items that used to go in the trash can now be someone’s treasure. I have received many household items for free and it is gratifying to give someone something that I no longer have use for.
Marianne says
I love them all. Great designs – you can certainly find yours among the masses of bottles at bootcamp.
I have asked our school to stop sending out the Scholastic flyers. I get 4 each per child once a month which means I have 8 flyers to toss. I know the school makes money from this program but there must be a way to get it online. Most parents I speak with never even look at them. When you have one in a lower grade and one higher, that’s just way too many.

I know my son would love the camo or the flames or the skulls. My daughter would like any with flowers. I like the summer stars. We all have different likes. We use reusable containers for almost everything. The kids rarely use “throw-away” wrappers. We have reusable water bottles already, but these are so much nicer. We recycle, compost, and try to avoid purchasing things with excess packaging. I made our own reusable fabric bags out of old curtains and other fabric we found around the house.

They are so beautiful – it would be great to replace my SIGG!
I would like the Lotus bottle as I envision myself sitting in a loyus flower when I meditate. I also like the Summer OM for my BFF. Currently we have matching SIGGs with a Golden Buddah so I need something just as lovely, and MUCH SAFER, to replace them with.
My tip is recycle and compost – it may not sound like a new idea but you would be AMAZED at the number of homes in our neighbourhood with no or virtually empty blue and green bins. There is only 3 of us in this house and sometimes we have 4 bins out and that’s only for 1 week! I know when I seen no or little filled bins, everything else is in the garbage…so sad…

Love the 60’s stripe design.
Our family is very pleased that environmentally friendly cleaning products are now in the same price range as the ‘old’ chemical laden ones. With well water and a septic tank, I think we have extra responsibilities. So I am trying to each my oldest about taking care of the water while we attempt to keep the house clean.

I like the 500ml bottles for my kids. Everyday they bring milk, juice and water to school. If they refill the bottles everyday, there will be less disposable juice boxes and milk cartoons lying around.
Mai-Anh Doan says
I like the black one with the white design. What we do is recycle magazines between each house hold and where I work. It is a great way to be up to date and not having to buy every magazine out there 🙂
dmhaen says
I like them all but especially the purple dragonfly one.
We are big time recyclers/composters in our household. I won’t let anything get into the garbage that doesn’t belong there. And if we want to get rid of something that we no longer need, but think someone else might be able to use it, we either donate it or put it out on our front yard with a free sign on it.

My family of 4 starting reducing the use of drinking glasses/cups in house buy having our own drinking bottles that we reuse throughout the day. This cuts down on glasses/cups to be washed in the dishwasher. It is suprising what one little change can do…we now only do a dishwasher load every other day, instead of daily as we used too. Right now we are using plastic reusable bottles but would LOVE to use Otterbottles! Different designs for each family member! And the designs are so cool!
Andrea says
I love the bottle with the pink flowers and brown branches best. As for our family being “green”, we live in a small town so I have given up my car for good.
Everything is so close that we walk everywhere. We do the grocery shopping, get the mail, walk to school every day and even are close enough to walk our recycling back to the facilities here. It is pretty great as well as a nice safe place to raise my kids. I pack their lunches in reusable containers so there is no waste as well.
Jennifer Rayment says
I love the one with the Owl on it — although since it is called an Otterbottle — they really should make one with an Otter on it : )
We do lots of things. We dont buy plastic disposable water bottles any more, we recycle and do lots of litterless lunches. We now take part in the Peaksaver program and use our air conditioner 80% less than last year. During the hot months we close all the drapes and close the windows during the day to keep from overheating the house. Lots of baby steps, but we are proud of what we have done so far and plan to do more
Violet Smith says
I simply cannot choose just one. Seeing as I like purple, pink and that gorgous blue, it is really difficult. However since I have to pick only one I would say that the purple bottle with the dragonfly would be my first choice. Wish they had one with a butterfly. (maybe I will make a suggestion to them). As for being green, our family does so many things, we recycle our food waste, plastic and paper, use litterless lunches, make sure all electric appliances when not in use are not just turned off, but unplugged, wash laundry in cold water and weather permitting, hang outside to dry, use a rain barrel to collect water and use this to water the garden and lawns, etc. Now to just win one of these wonderful bottles, lol.

Well, my favorite would be the owl..love the color but I am sure my son would love the army one and my daughter (who tries to spread the green message everywhere) would love the GoGreen one ..the other two daughters not so sure…they have a unique style I haven’t yet figured out. We always turn off lights, litterless lunches when possible, reusable bags for groceries, refillable water containers, recycle all that can be…but we are a family still in the process of finding out about all that we can do.
bartley says
They are so beautiful! I would choose the 900 ml size because I have a daughter who works out at the gym and kung-fu – she would love this size of bottle! The designs are very cool too. My family tries hard to respect the environment – we compost, have not used pesticides on our grass for 20 years (before the ban!), have used re-usable shopping bags and bins for many years, we also use environmentally friendly cleaners and conserve as much energy as possible.
Debbie says
I think the Owl one is so cute. When I think about it there is a lot we do with out realizing it just comes natural now. We compost,we recycle bottles, cans, containers, papers. We use the new light bulbs. We use the cloth bags for the grocery stores. I reuse plastic containers in my husbands lunch. These are just a few of the ways we recycle.
Michelle says
I love them all……the more vibrant, the better. They are all eye catching. People see it and it’s a reminder that they too should be using something other then a plastic water bottle. You can have fun while saving the environoment. My husband and I have been teaching our girls to reduce, reuse an recyle…..everything from the recycle bins and food waste to giving away toys to daycare centres to reuse rather then the garbage. If we begin to teach our children these things when they are small it becomes the norm for them.
Angela Peters says
I love the gray camo print on the 500ml bottle!
We have focused on ways to reduce energy waste around our home & have installed energy saving light bulbs all over the house & keep the windows open as often as possible!
ali digney says
I love them all! My favorite size is the 750ml. It’s the perfect amount. I bring it with me everywhere I go and this saves me from buying plastic waterbottles. My favorite design….how to choose…i’d say the black with the daisies.
Sandra Schultz says
I love the pinkish-red daisy one. Very feminine but cute.
We don’t have green bins, but I usually compost things like rhubarb leaves and every morning I put my coffee grounds in the garden (supposedly it also helps to keep the animals away from digging).
Susie says
The Go Green skateboard style reminds me of my daughter — she loves anything skateboarding, and she takes up every cause with incredible enthusiasm. About a year ago, our family decided to get rid of two things in our home: bottled water and plastic shopping bags. The impact on the amount of garbage and recycling we created was huge, and immediate.
Susan K says
I’m not sure if my daughter would pick the Orange Purple Flower Power (900ml)
or the RockStar (750ml). I know she’s dying to get a big one though. I love the
Dragonfly on Purple Bottle (750ml).
We became vegeatarian about two years ago. It takes much less energy to produce vegetable products than meat products and other less negative impacts to the environment.

I like the bottle with the Star design; very pretty. My Family has been recycling and using our composter for the past few years and I hope we are doing our part to clean up our environment!

I like the one with the owl on it because we are bird watchers .We also have a bird bath in our yard in the summer and a bird feeder in the winter. My tip for saving the environment is take your own cloth bags to the stores when shopping so we don’t have all those plastic bags in the landfills.
Sarah says
Actually, believe it or not, my favourite is the one in the picture accompanying this article:)
In our home, we try not to buy toys with too much packaging that will just be thrown away- instead we reuse plastic containers and such, fill them with rice, pasta, water, etc… and have a ball!
Therese says
Wow – so many to choose from and I have to pick one – hmmm – I think I like the owl one best. They are such beautiful and interesting birds. We recycle, compost, take juice in refillable containers to school, and we never buy bottled water – we use refillable water bottles.
Michelle says
I love the black bottle with the white flowers. For the environment my kids know all about recycling and composting. They each have a job filling the bins.
LoriD says
I love the dragonfly design on the purple 750 ml bottle. One small thing we do for the environment is to pack my three kids a completely litterless lunch – no baggies, packaged puddings, drinks or granola bars. Everything but the food comes home to be used again.
