Kris Kross Rapper Chris Kelly – Dead at 34

May 2, 2013 by Katya Leave a Comment

Chris Kelly, one half of the 90’s boy-rapper band Kris Kross was found “unresponsive” in his Atlanta home and pronounced dead after 8pm yesterday.
So far, no further details have been released.

You may remember this band from the early 1990s as two cute boy rappers who wore their clothes backwards..

Along with Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith, Kelly was discovered at a mall as a thirteen year-old by music mogul Jermaine Dupri.

In 1992, the duo became famous after releasing Kris Kross‘ multi-platinum album Totally Krossed Out. That album spawned the hit “Jump” – arguably the duo’s most famous song.

Kris Kross made some recordings since 1992, but they were never again able to repeat the level of success of that first album.
Chris Kelly’s most recent public performance was earlier this year when Kris Kross performed at the 20th anniversary party for Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label.
Sad news!
