Another day, another Hollywood split. The latest victims: actors Diane Lane (48) and Josh Brolin (45) . They are calling it quits after 8 years of marriage and have issued this all-too-familiar statement:
“Diane Lane and Josh Brolin have decided to end their marriage,” the rep tells US Weekly
Adds an insider: “It was a mutual decision. It is very amicable. It’s not ugly, it’s just over.”
In typical Hollywood fashion, they split up two months ago but only now are making it public.
Eight years of marriage in Hollywood is like 28 in the “regular world” so this is one of the more ‘established’ celeb couples. So am I shocked? No. Not given their history. But there’s something about these two as a couple that I really liked.
In 2010, Brolin told Playboy, “I mean, check her out, man. My relationship with my wife is fantastic.”
But recently, the couple have attended events separately. Most recently, Brolin went solo ot the premiere of Gangster Squad in January. And Lane attended the Palm Springs International Film festival without Brolin that same month.
Could it have something to do with his partying and bad-boy ways? After all, Brolin was recently arrested for public intoxication on New Year’s Eve. Or did his arrest for spousal battery in 2004, just four months into their marriage provide early clues into his behaviour? And the cheating….Brolin publicly denied he cheated in 2010 after being photographed kissing actress Marley Shelton, his costar in the flick Grindhouse. Lane – while no wallflower – probably just had enough.
Brolin and Lane have no kids together.
