Poor Ralph (John C. Reilly). He’s tired of doing the same old job for decades and who can blame him?
Wreck-It Ralph is the massive bad guy in a popular video game. He destroys buildings with his huge hands while the hero Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer) comes to the rescue and, you guessed it, fixes the mess and gets all the glory.
Friendless and unloved, Wreck-It Ralph decides to escape his game in search of a better world where he can also prove he can be a good guy. He goes on a game-hopping journey from one game to another and meets a colourful cast of characters along the way. Such as Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch) a Lara Croft-like character obsessed with hunting mutant bugs. Or Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) a little girl who’s labelled the “Glitch” in her video game but all she wants to do is drive a racecar.
It’s a fun ride of a movie with misfits and villains and a big guy who just wants to be loved.
What’s fun about watching this as an adult is that the animated characters have some of the same characteristics as the actors who play them. Wreck-It Ralph sports John C. Reilly’s trademark light-brown curls. Fix-it Felix sure looks a lot like Jack McBrayer’s character “Kenneth” on 30 Rock. And I can totally see shades of “Sue Sylvester” (Glee) in the looks and commanding voice of Sergeant Calhoun.
Who to See it With
This movie is a lot of fun to see with your kids. I saw this at a special preview screening with my nine year old son and he loved it. It’s filled with nostalgia. Especially if you’ve ever played any arcade games as a kid (and who hasn’t!).

Interesting Fact:
Disney has partnered with SUBWAY restaurants to cross-promote their movies while providing healthy meals for kids. We tested out their breakfast menu before the movie and it was yummy. If you order a kids meal, you will get a FREE Wreck-it-Ralph bag. It contains 2 coins of the characters from the movie which kids can collect all six bags.
“Wreck-It Ralph” opens Canada-wide today.
