The legendary director, screenwriter, journalist and book author past away this week after a long battle with Leukemia. Her films included When Harry Met Sally, You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, Julie & Julia, and countless others.

I recall seeing Heartburn and her other films a long time ago..but I need and want to refresh. Now seeing all the heartfelt tributes reminds us of how amazing she was. Pure genius. And I agree with Cerys… your recount is perfect! 🙂
Have you ever seen “Heartburn” Sonya?! It was terrific. Dated now (80’s, you know…) but she had a lot to say about the nature of love and divorce and children in that film. *swoons* Meryl + Jack = excellence.

I loved her wit SO MUCH – she really was the master of dialogue too… her films were gems (even the less stellar ones) because there were always such great pearls about life and love scattered throughout. I love that her first and last films starred Meryl Streep. (I should totally watch Heartburn again… I’ll bet it would mean different things to me now, at this stage of my life.)
I’m very sad about her passing. I’m glad she suffers no more, though. Cancer needs to go away now. 🙁
