Well – it’s over – let the Oscar hangover set in.
Did I like the show? Well, I liked the flow of it. It moved, it never really seemed to drag and it ended by 11:30. But Billy needs some new schtick. I really loved the Cirque Du Soleil part and loved the montages of actors talking about movies. Reese Witherspoon loving Overboard was adorable. As for winner and losers? There were no big surprises really. Meryl took it over Viola – which isn’t a robbery per se but maybe a small upset. Christopher Plummer won his first! And as a proud Canadian – it was awesome to see him in his Order of Canada pin! (I’m also the very proud daughter of an Order of Canada recipient so I was fist pumping!). Oh wait one surprise…or maybe not a surprise…was Penelope Ann Miller jumping into the picture while The Artist producer was talking. Me thinks SOMEONE thinks her career may revive with this movie (except no one remembers that she was in it).
But really, we’re here to talk fashion. I think I used up my month’s allotment on pictures here…so be prepared to see old shots over the last few weeks!
I’m going to call these – the Good, The Bad and the I Think They’re Good …but it’s Up For Debate.
So – the Good!
Angelina Jolie
Guys – I don’t care if you think she’s too skinny or not. This woman doesn’t have one piece of jewellery on. She is the picture of perfection. She is a movie star. I’ll fight you to the death in a pit of jello if you disagree on this one. *but yes I loathed her pose on the stage.
Michelle Williams
Finally, a smile. I love this. I don’t give a rats ass if it looks like a skirt and top. Love the broach, the necklace, the colour. Most of all – I love that she’s smiling.
Rooney Mara
Did she deserve to be nominated? Meh. Wasn’t feeling it – even the clip they showed last night sort of made her look majorly overacted by everyone else. But I am becoming more and more obsessed with her. I loved this dress. The back was amazing! Her skin is translucent…her boyfriend is H-O-T (oops inside voice).
Jean Dujardin and the wife
Of course he makes my best dressed list. But…it’s his wife! She’s smoking in this dress. I hope she doesn’t put on 40 pounds and develop a hunchback while she’s depressed after I break them up. I’d feel bad. But she could always say she peaked at the Oscars. I think she looks lovely.

I’m ending my best dressed list here with Octavia. What a perfect dress for her. I think the best she’s looked this whole, ridiculously long awards season. Love.
Then I’ll kick off my WORST dressed here with Viola Davis
In high school, my mom made my Grade 12 prom dress. It was this colour. I looked like the jolly green giant. I’m not sure what she looks like – but I’m not feeling it all. I truly love her hair but that’s where it ended for me. Her poor girls, shoved in that bodice like sardines.

Jennifer Lopez
I was tweeting and said this is not J Lo – This is J NO! To me she was hands down the worst dressed of the night. It’s like a handicap in golf – we expect more from the better players, so I’m ranking her harder than our next person. But – I’ll give her extra points for not laughing while she read a line about ‘ladylike dressing’ while a slice of her nip was exposed!
Shailene Woodley
I love that you don’t really give a rats ass about fashion – I do. I loved what you wore to the Spirit Awards on Saturday. But sorry, all the young chicks last night who wore full sleeves? You aged yourselves. Trust me, soon enough you’ll have bat wings and will need to cover them up – so show them now ladies!
And in white? She looked like a sister-wife bride.
Melissa McCarthy
I wanted to love it but I don’t. Chop the sleeves to a cap maybe. I think the issue is this. Her boobs are too big for that gathering. I sort of just look right at them the whole time. And her hair just seems weird to me. Sigh. I wanted to like what you wore – I really did!
Anna Faris
Amazing hair? Check.
Hot boyfriend? Check
Dress from Liza Minelli’s closet? Check (yes I stole that line from Kelly Osbourne but she is bang on). See bat wing comment above Anna.
Colin Firth’s Wife
If J Lo was not handicapped as mentioned above, this outfit would have been hands down the worst of the night. This is a beautiful woman. Remember I talked of my prom dress? This looks like one her mom made her in 1982. Just bad. Even Colin is looking like – ‘man, my wife is smoking….she does she look like Estelle Getty tonight??”
Now these next few are the controversial. None horrid – but are they? They are the line walkers I guess.
Emma Stone
The colour, the front slit, the waist….all incredible. The bow though? Just too big. She looks like she’s hiding a hickey or something. She’s still my #2 chick crush but I wish the bow was smaller.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Do we like the cape or hate it? Its growing on me. She looked stunning. Like the white dressed movie start to Angie’s black dress movie star. But the cape is the iffy factor for me. What do you think?
Jessica Chastain
This woman is a chameleon! She can look so bad and then last night…stunning. But I’m not sure what it is…maybe the gold comes down too far for me…but again wanted to say wow…but sort of went ‘hmmm’. Thoughts??
Crap – just found two random pics…Natalie Portman – loooooooooooved the polka dots. I maybe in the minority on this one but I don’t care. I thought it was perfect. Then there is the woman from The Artist. I’m too lazy to look up her name…because I think she was too lazy to do her hair.

I loved Penelope too BUT I really disliked her hair and makeup …. so I think that’s why I took her off! I wasn’t a fan of Tina’s dress Carol! Again, it’s one of those – I’m not sure why! It was an interesting red carpet for sure!!! And yup, I’m all over the cape now too Tracy (so by tomorrow…I may be all over Tina’s dress too…:))

I absolutely loved Tina Fey dress, it was classic and she looked absolutely beautiful.
I loved Penelope’s dress so hard!! I didn’t think the bow on Emma’s dress was bad (as big as it was) since it just seemed to add some playful drama and balance for a single-coloured outfit. She’s all kinds of adorable anyway, that girl. I liked the structure of Angelina’s dress… quite excellent, actually. The pose made me tired though. Gwyneth’s white dress was gorgeous. And man, do I ever love a cape… very dramatic – she’s got all the right parts to pull that one off – loved it!!
emma’s bow was too much. penelope cruz stopped me in my tracks. i thought she was the best of the night!
Angie, Gwenyth and Emma Stone were my favourites. J. Lo changed into a second dress for the after-party and it was so beautiful. I wish she had worn that to the actual award show.
