It was TV’s big night last night – the annual Emmy Awards. Unfortunately, it was also my step-mothers birthday so I missed the red carpet!! Then, when I got home and fell asleep putting my kid to bed, I decided to let the Emmy’s be like Christmas….I could go to sleep, with visions of Jon Hamm dancing in my head…and wake up and unwrap all the fashions like gifts! And just like Christmas gifts – there were some things I loooooved and some that I prayed had the tags on so I could return them.
So, let’s save the best (i.e. THE WORST DRESSED) for last and start with who I think got it right. You tell me what you think.
To me. Hands down the best of the night…..
Sofia Vergara of Modern Family. Ay Carumba! The colour – her body – the earrings – her body. Perfection.
And like a big sister – little sister type of thing….my second best pick of the night is another Modern Family chick, in the same type of dress. Think Sofia Vergara – the PG version. It’s Sarah Hyland.
The women of comedy continued to bring it, because next up is Cobie Smulders. Yes – I had to google her as well so let me save you the trouble – she’s on How I Met Your Mother.
Love the colour. Love that she didn’t wear some frou frou necklace. So pretty!
And really – Kate Winslett – not only do I want to hang out and drink beers with you (out of the bottle) – I want to have your wardrobe. She is always stunning. Last night was no exception!
Lastly. There are no words to explain my happiness that Kyle Chandler FINALLY WON for his work on Friday Night Lights. We’ll miss you Coach Taylor. You could have worn a potato sac and I’d still picture you not wearing it and being on my list.
NOW THE WORST! And to me – there were a ton to choose from. It really was a snooze fest in the fashion front but these lovelies stuck out for me. Who am I missing?
Hey Jayma Mayes. I need to know if Molly Ringwald made this for you with the leftovers from her Pretty in Pink prom dress. Crikey.
Okay Julie Bowen. Let’s get this straight. No, I’m not a fan mostly because of how you treated Ed on Ed. And yeah, I’m slightly annoyed that you beat Sofia Vergara to win last night. And yes, I do believe you need to eat a burger. All of that aside, heads up – you aren’t Gwyneth Paltrow – I’m looking at your picture with out the head (just the ends of your hair and the outfit) and right down to the spindly arms, I see Gwynnie.
Katie? Were you studying for your Poli Sci final and then remembered it was the Emmy Awards? Seriously if you had a pencil stuck in that bun, you would look like me every Sunday night in university (you’d also have a ceasar in one hand and be listening to Eddie Money but that’s another story).
The bottom of Heidi Klum‘s dress reminds me of a rising cloud of barf (can you tell my kid has had a virus for a bit). All I can hear is the gagging sound of my kid when I look at this. Too bad because from the waist up – it was sort of pretty! Why do the hottest chicks tend to get it wrong?
I sooo agree with you on Kyle Chandler!!! I am a late bloomer with Friday Night Lights…just finished season 1 and can not wait to get my hands on season 2. I would give him best dressed in whatever he was wearing….just plain sweet!!! Go Coach Taylor!!!!

I have to say – the biggest surprise for me was how gorgeous Martha Plimpton looked!

Were you offended by the fact that it was a burger or the implication that she is too skinny? Either way, I thought it was kinda funny and more than a little bit true. But I’m a vegetarian so I would have said cake 😉

Interesting take on Emmys fashion but we could have done without the burger comment. That was uncalled for.
